"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton |
|
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan |
|
"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792 |
|
"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams |
|
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

These might be important to “sell” themselves but not what impresses me. Beyond proving conservative principles, what’s important to me is accomplishments in previous jobs that prove ability. I suppose that’s why I favor conservatives who have been run things successfully as governors or managers in business.

so do you think Reagan was a good President?
And if so, was it due to his training in California as gov?
Or was it because of his ability to set a vision and then hiring administrators to carry it out?
I say B. I say A was not relevant other than an interesting biographical fact.

If anyone wants to know what Ted Cruz was up to before he hit the national stage the supreme court Medellín v. Texas case is one he won on behalf of Texas against the Bush administration.
Medellín v. Texas, 552 U.S. 491 (2008), is a United States Supreme Court decision that held that even if an international treaty may constitute an international commitment, it is not binding domestic law unless Congress has enacted statutes implementing it or unless the treaty itself is "self-executing." Also, the Court held that decisions of the International Court of Justice are not binding domestic law and that, without authority from the United States Congress or the Constitution, the President of the United States lacks the power to enforce international treaties or decisions of the International Court of Justice.
Medellín v. Texas
The Bush administration argued that due to international treaties the death penalty should be off the table in the José Ernesto Medellín case.
This is what Medellín did.
On June 24, 1993, José Ernesto Medellín (an 18-year-old Mexican citizen) and several other gang members participated in the murder of Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña, when they raped a 14-year-old and 16-year-old girl for an hour in Houston, Texas. Both girls were killed to prevent them from identifying their assailants. Medellín strangled one of the girls with her own shoelaces. Hours after Medellin's arrest he admitted to his part in the crime and boasted of having "virgin blood" on his underpants. Medellín was executed at 9:57pm on August 5, 2008 after his last-minute appeals were rejected by the Supreme Court.
To Rick Perry's credit, he rejected calls from Washington and Mexico to delay the execution.

It is very indicative as to the level of sophistication of campaigns like Huckabee’s in trying to win friends and influence people.
Frankly, this example is pretty sophomoric. It speaks for a competence and rigor of message that does not exist within the “Huckabee Campaign.”
Message, message control, rogue supporter control (especially from supporting journalists). IMO, anybody for Huckabee needs to rethink themselves - very carefully.

This is a garbage plate with his own summary.
I'm looking for knowledge, experience and wisdom.
The only one on the list who has all 3 is Trump. Walker is next with 2 out of 3.

It because Hulklebee is an “Elmer Gantry””Shuck and Jive” BUSH!T ARTIST and Deace is nothing more than a little fat Midwestern Prick that THINKS he “Knows it All”. Not much different than a county party head in a rural county anywhere in the Mid-West.
