TN law is quite specific about monuments. This is a felony if they continue to dig and/or deface the monument. The city cannot just “do it” either. Irony is that Forrest, in the last years of his life went out of his way to stabilize Reconstruction TN, and disbanded the klan. The klan everyone generalizes about, was resurgent and HQ’d in.... wait for it.... Indiana (a yankee state).

including those from the ‘War Between the States’ !
