I will not use Wikipedia as some people have BUTTHURT with Wiki. This is what is will use: http://www.navsource.org/archives/02/cv-59/59f-0729.htm
Are another subject.
If anyone here thinks I haven't posted enough dirt on McCain I'll be glad to re-post the links to them that I posted over 200 times from Nov. 2006 until he won the nomination in early 2008.
In those days it was all volunteer, and for officers, you had to pass your Rickover interview. If you make it through the training, then you would be OK. BTW, you can visit TREPANG’s weapon shipping hatch, wardroom, crews mess, and laundry in the Museum of American History in Washington, DC. The rest is razor blades. ;-)
And from such an authoritative source! You posted three image links from it and copy/pasted from its text. Now I dare you to post a proper link to that text!
If memory serves, the pilot responsible for that incident was turned over to the Italians for trial, and was imprisoned as a result.
I don't think McCain's incident was quite as serious, but it still would have ended an ordinary naval airman's career.
This is a completely accurate account of the fire on the Forrestal...I was the Public Affairs Officer for RAdm Harvey Lanham and was on the Forrestal’s flag bridge for much of the day, as the glass was blown out by shrapnel, as men were vaporized by unstable bombs on deck, and as our shipmates were killed by explosions that reached as deep as seven decks. McCain was a hotdog, just as he is today, but he did not start the fire, nor did he have any responsibility to fight the fire. We had well-trained, fire control parties and he would have been in the way. McCain’s service in the U.S. Senate is much more of a disgrace than his actions on the Forrestal.
Nope. The pilot and navigator were tried at Camp Lejeune on 20 counts of involuntary manslaughter and negligent homicide.
Not guilty.
Next, they were tried for obstruction of justice for destroying a video recorded during the flight. They were found guilty on that and dismissed from the Navy. The captain also got six months, but served only four and a half.
That is where the Democrat propaganda about the BS "Wet Start" began.
Whatever McCain did in the past is the past. It’s what he is doing now that is important and it isn’t good.
You have the story. Believe it or not.
Well my concentration is on McStain not Kerry in this situation.
Your "story" is demonstrably false, based on the diagrammed locations of the planes. There was no plane behind McCain's, and certainly not the plane that fired the rocket (that one was across from McCain's plane).
You have the story. Which many sailors on the flight deck of the US forrestal backed up.
You keep saying that. It doesn't make the story true. Are you saying that the videos and diagrams are...fake? If not, then how do you account for the fact that your "story" doesn't match the evidence?
Which many sailors on the flight deck of the US forrestal backed up.
Can you back that assertion up with any facts? Evidence? Of course not.
And you can't provide one link to any of their stories.
“A pilot loses a plane for any reason, then after all is said and done said pilot is lucky to be able to return to the cockpit flying for Uncle Sugar, even if the loss wasnt his fault.”
Not correct. I can’t think of a pilot REJECTED from further flying after a crash UNLESS he was found at fault. I knew a guy with 2 ejections, still flying. That was in the 80s.
In the 60s, we lost a LOT of planes. They were cheaper back then...
Ummm...there was nothing but ocean behind McCain's jet:
And to add, the picture matches exactly the diagram you provided. With McCain’s A-4 being “417” and White’s (which can’t be seen through the fire and smoke at all) 405. The two A-4s (417 and 312) to the left of McCains can be seen, as well as the three spotted on the extreme aft fantail and teh F-4s on the Starboard fantail.
416, McCain’s was 416.
