GOP Strategists Plot to Ban Donald Trump From Debates
Gateway Pundit ^ | July 23,2015 | Jim Hoft

One idea that came up was to urge three leading candidates — Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor; Mr. Walker; and Senator Marco Rubio of Florida — to band together and state that they would not participate in any debate in which Mr. Trump was present, using his refusal to rule out a third-party bid as a pretext for taking such a hard line.

The thinking, according to a Republican involved in the conversations, was that the lesser-funded prospects who have been eclipsed by Mr. Trump would follow suit, and the TV networks airing the debates would be forced to bar Mr. Trump in order to have a full complement of candidates.

The Trump camp is saying this is B.S, brought on by an MSM attempt to divide their opposition, although the Trump camp does acknowledge that the GOP isn’t being very supportive and not neutral like they’re supposed to be.

"If you water it down and rip its guts out to the point where it’s not recognized as conservatism, then guess what?

It’s not conservatism.

Please peddle that elsewhere."

Whoa. Relax friend. We're on the same side!

Now with all due respect I never called Trump ( I assume you mean him ) a Conservative. Maybe you crossed replies with someone else?

I was the one asking for a 270+ path to the White House for one of the other candidates. This is where the battlefield really is. This is what we need to be talking about. As far as Trump's ideology, or lack thereof, I'm not much interested because me and him are from the same place up here. I'm not much interested because he is kind of politically agnostic and could very easily morph into a Clinton or a Reagan. I suspect it would be closer to the latter on most matters.

What I am interested in is his finances because he can afford to be 'independent', and with his abrasive gruff style he is guaranteed to be independent because trying to bribe him or coerce or blackmail or bully him is pretty much off the table. I don't think we can say the same for 99% of the bureaucrats in the District of Criminals, and < Tinfoil alert > I do believe blackmail is business as usual down there. It is the only logical explanation for so many of the things that have occurred. Clinton FBI files anyone?

Now many are saying "let's try a Conservative for once" and I do agree with that desire, but there is something else we have not tried: a bona fide Independent. Trump is probably an Independent Conservative on most matters. That would be my best guess at the moment if I had to guess. But there is a loooong way to go to decide what he is.

Remember ALL ... it has been the GOP/RNC / U.S. Chamber of Commerce who has virtually forced upon us — THREE LOSERS — DOLE, McCAIN and ROMNEY.... None proved to be fighters, McCain and Romney were/are Liberal lite and not so lite... None could win - McCain conducted a miserable campaign, Romney buckled in debate and could not drive - would not drive the Benghazi knife home... But Romney could SAVAGE Conservatives but folded like a jack knife against obama...

Does anyone think that Dole, McCain and Romney were the PEOPLE’S CHOICE? I DON’T. Our Republican Presidential Candidates have been engineered by the GOP/RNC / U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a more than willing and compliant news media — ALL pushing to shape OUR CHOICE for US.

Trump has singlehandedly SHOT THAT Dictatorial Concept in the head... and not likely by intention... sometimes things just happen. But now that is has happened we should play it out for all it is worth. Without Trump - even as early as this all news media would be chanting JEB BUSH JEB BUSH ... all crooked polls would be Jeb Bush, yada yada yada..

I prefer Ted Cruz... and will hope he emerges strong... How all this will play out — who knows ? But I am certain Trump’s actions - while not from intention - will lead to Conservative Candidates having a real voice. And not hammered into the ground for voicing real Conservative viewpoints. Why do I believe this ... Example — Ted Cruz’s policies on illegal immigration ... Cruz will voice a strong - reasoned - well thought out Conservative approach on Illegal Aliens and Amnesty... Because it will be done this way - it will sound tens times better to what Trump blurted out. Etc., Etc., Etc.

This is my humble *take* on The Donald.

Perhaps you have heard the old sales adage that says “sell the sizzle not the steak”.

DT is a salesman. A very successful salesman. He understands human nature and the axiom so perfectly well.......so he is selling the *sizzle*.

Just think about most car ads and how most of them are selling sizzle, and sex. Secondary is what the car will do for you; e.g., resale value, technology, gas mileage, comfort, safety, horse power, etc.

Trump is selling the *idea* of what kind of president he would be and b/c there are so many disaffected Americans.....he is wildly resonating with many.

Figuring out the *steak* with The Donald, is another matter. We know he is a triumphant developer in a very tough real estate market. He is a schmoozer, knows how to play the game. A TV star, an author, a keen promoter of his brand. [Can you just see AF-1 with *Trump* emblazoned on the side?]

One thing we do know is that Trump is very wealthy. And with that wealth comes loads of *fabulous* power. And he is up against another wealthy powerhouse, the badly damaged Clinton machine. We know that the Clintoons have been bought and sold, politically, many times over. I don’t believe that Trump is compromised. I could be wrong. The bulk of the RNC candidates so far [except maybe Rubio and Cruz] seem to be the flip side of DNC coin. Completely disappointing.

His candidacy is about his *sizzle* ....whether that falls into the Conservative camp or into a radical liberal one, is a topic for discussion and argument [as seen on FR daily]. He has no record as an elected official, other than his business record, in which to compare anything.

As the song says *you can’t start a fire without a spark* ...for the time being,......Trump is the spark ....the sizzle. It’s fun to watch.

You saying Trump could morph into Reagan made me dry heave up my dinner, and I couldn’t read any further.

~sigh~

I said he's agnostic, could morph into either a Clinton or a Reagan ... and that it will be a looong time before I could decide.

That will require a longer attention span than you have displayed here. Thanks for the rude attitude though.

Cheers.

I'm shocked to hear that the GOP has strategists. You certainly can't see any strategy happening in the House or Senate, except capitulate and cower.

Well .. I can’t help but wonder what this act against Trump will do to FOX NEWS if they pursue this.

quite frankly, it’s none of your damn business. What kind of question is that?

Why so excited? You had no problem revealing you were for GWB in the 2000 general election.

Btw, you're free to vote for whoever you wish. And you have every right to decline questions.☺

Maybe tone down the anger a bit, otherwise you're going to pop before the election. The blow fish will be jumping by then.

Apparently our little friend sf4dubya hasn't always been so enthusiastic about Cruz- why just last April choosing Ted over Scott Walker was equal to throwing in with the GOPe-

To: MaxMax

You don’t know Cruz wants to expand and fast track legal immigration yet call me an idiot for supporting someone with a stance to the right of Cruz?!

Apparently you’re for the GOPe!

“America needs to be led by warriors.” Any thoughts on Webb (D from VA) candidacy. Actual military experience.

If Trump goes third party, I would like to see him debate Green Party, Dr. Jill Stein, and the Libertarian candidate. I heard that when Stein ran against Romney in Massachusetts, she creamed him.

or Gov Rick Perry ...USAF veteran

I actually feel that the U.S. should have a two tier national leadership ; one for domestic leadership and one for foreign affairs / military leadership . To bundle the two into one has often resulted in debacle . No uniformed Armed Forces member should have to be led by a man/woman that has never worn the uniform , heard the munitions whiz , or had to make military decisions . It is sickening to me that , over & over , they are put at the mercy of the clueless civilians that don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground ,in military affairs .

ps: in the old days , the President would often listen to the military advice of his Mil leadership . But not since WW2 .
Now the CIVs know it all , whether they have ever served or not and since Clinton there has been a trend to elect ‘never served’s .
Hillary Clinton ? not a God damned way in Hell she should ever be seen as the Commander & Chief of our U.S. Armed Forces . NO WAY ....

So you haven’t been looking at the polls? She isn’t in the same galaxy as Obama, has very high unfavorable so, and Dems everywhere are panicked. I just hope they don’t replace her.

Except for Cruz,THEY ARE.

I’m not completely sold on Trump, Cruz is my guy, but I could happily vote for him in the general.
