Scott Walker again toys with Marco Rubio for veep pick

Scott Walker doesn’t think a Walker-Rubio ticket would be so bad.

“I like Marco a lot. I certainly agree with him a lot on national defense issues,” the Wisconsin governor said on CNN’s “Politics Outside with Insiders.”

Walker said that many of his supporters want him to tap Rubio.

“Of people who have made suggestions to me, that is probably 90 to 10 the suggestion people make,” he said.

This isn’t the first time Walker has floated the Florida senator’s name as a possible veep.

Last month, before Walker had officially announced his candidacy, he told Bloomberg Politics that he and Rubio both frequently hear they should combine forces, maybe even before the Iowa caucuses in February – though he did say they might have “arm-wrestle” over who gets the top of the ticket.

Some, like Ana Navarro, a Republican strategist close to former Florida governor Jeb Bush, have speculated that Walker’s move is a power one — a suggestion that Rubio isn’t up for the presidency.

“He’s sending several messages — give the impression he’s on top; acknowledge that he would be running against a historical figure in the first woman candidate and needs some diversity; telegraph Marco that they are allies; and in a way belittle Marco,” Navarro told The Washington Post earlier this month.

Cruz and Trump have formed a de facto alliance.

Walker wants to ally himself with Rubio.

Says a lot, eh?

A secure border is the number one national security issue. Rubes doesn’t support a secure border. Care to rephrase that Walker...

I’m skeptical of Walker now.

He picks Rubio as his running mate, he loses me and the other three votes in my family.

It’s a bit early for anyone to be lining up their running mate. Smacks of hubris.

It’s a little early, not to mention presumptuous for Scott to be ‘measuring the drapes’. Scott’s popularity has been receeding here lately, so he has introductory work to do.

I am thinking this country is in such deep trouble that to cut through this political forest and save the country it may take two helping each other.

Every time a GOPe gets the nod, they always throw a bone to the conservative wing of the Republican Party with their Veep pick. (Think Sarah Palin). Doesn’t it make sense for a Conservative winner to do the same? Better to be at the top of the ticket and run the show.

Rubio’s goose is cooked. Forget about Rubio, Scott, unless you want a cooked goose too.

I understand, but he doesn’t have the nomination yet. And this stuff is the disconnect in Gov. Walker.

Walker has an exceptional conservative record in Wisconsin, but since he has become his campaign for president, he apparently feels the need to appease the DC establishment.

For instance, in the Trump/McCain flap, Walker said Trump’s comments were disgraceful and Trump should apologize; and now, he wants to align himself with a politician most likely to support amnesty. He should just run on his record.

Given Walker’s strong conservative credentials, I just have never understood why he feels the need to placate the RINOS.

If Rubio was intellectually honest, he would come right out and say “My economic plan is to add 11-30 million more poor people to the United Sates permanently, because if there is one thing America needs, it’s more poor people.”

I’m done considering Walker.
