The majority are able-bodied and should go get work.
And you know this how?
My husband has been on disability for eight years. He was in an accident where he was hit head on by a guy running from the cops. He is in a wheelchair, he had part of his intestines removed, has rods and pins in his pelvis and both legs and ankles. He has developed bad arthritis in his hands as well. He is lucky to be alive.
Everyone thinks it is so easy to get disability. Let me assure you it is not. He gets a little over $1,000 per month. Prior to the accident he was a machinist. He will never be able to work again.
I am so tired of people assuming they know everyone else’s situation when it comes to disability. I hope you never are in the position to need it.
