“Contrary to popular opinion, it’s not that easy to qualify for SS disability”

11 million people would say otherwise. Most cases INITIALLY are declined but that settles nothing as it can be appealed. And appeal they do and more often than not they win. Shyster Disability Lawyer TV commercials run almost as often as the Mesothelioma Law Firm commercials in So. Cal.= multiple times a day.

Case in point I ran into an ex co worker of mine (60 years old) at the Grocery store. We both lost our jobs when the Elec. Manufacturer we worked for pulled up stakes and went out of State four years ago. “How are you doing, did you find a job” No i’m on disability, I had a stroke. This man was perfect in every way, no physical impairment, no speech impairment, no mental capacity impairment, nothing.... nada. He was pushing around a fully loaded grocery cart like it was nothing. If I recall correctly he is getting $1100 a month and medical for the whole family.

I’ve read that a lot of people who are a few years from retirement age who lose their jobs have been using this as a way to bridge the gap. Many people over 60 have health issues which could be generously interpreted as a “disability” if one were so inclined.

Also keep the fictional 5.5% unemployment numbers going, so it works for them on so many levels.
