AFL-CIO Controlled Union Intervenes, Cancels Trump’s Border Tour Planned by Local Agents

Donald Trump’s planned tour of the Laredo Sector of the Texas -Mexico border has been canceled by the national AFL-CIO-controlled union that represents U.S. Border Patrol agents, the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC).

At some point the AFL-CIO decided the local union needed to rescind the invitation. Which is very odd because the NBPC is very outspoken about border issues and how they impact Border Patrol. In the past they have invited a variety of people to meet with them and tour the border with no interference from AFL-CIO before that I have ever heard.

I remember it well. I was living in San Antonio at the time and wrote a note to the Union. I wrote that the "temperature on the ground at San Antonio Airport Gates, where they had their picket lines, was about 100 degrees. I also noted that their bosses were now the controllers and it was 70 degrees at 8500 hundred feet on my way to El Paso. Two weeks later they did not have a job and I did.

Unions negotiate contracts that specify compensation and many working conditions for a period of time, but they do not direct the day-to-day work activities of members, the company, or the government in this case does that.

You have it backwards, Cruze will drop and support trump or be VP. I love Cruze but I don’t think he has enough name recognition to go far. The biggest enemy is the GOP and Cruze is too civil to defeat them and get the nomination.
