Perry: Trump a cancer on conservatism, I won't stay silent on his mean-spirited politics
http://hotair.com ^ | July 22, 2015

I’ll quote a little but you’re better off reading the whole thing. There’ll be lots of media noise around it for the next few days, especially after Trump responds. And it’s a fine indictment of Hopenchange even apart from the Trump stuff. He’s trying to do two things here, picking a fight with the media’s favorite candidate to gain some reflected exposure and re-introducing himself to righties who disdain Trump but aren’t sure which way to go yet as an alternative. This is Perry telling Trump-haters, of which there are many, that their choices aren’t between Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz.

By the way, when was the last time one candidate attacked another this extensively this early in a primary? You can imagine that in the context of a primary challenge to an incumbent president, where the insurgent wants to make a comprehensive case against the tenure of the man in charge, but I can’t recall an example in an open field like this one.

In times of trouble, there are two types of leaders: repairers of the breach and sowers of discord.

The sower of discord foments agitation, thrives on division, scapegoats certain elements of society, and offers empty platitudes and promises. He is without substance when one scratches below the surface.

He offers a barking carnival act that can be best described as Trumpism: a toxic mix of demagoguery, mean-spiritedness and nonsense that will lead the Republican Party to perdition if pursued. That’s just the warm-up.

Donald Trump is the modern-day incarnation of the know-nothing movement.

Oops.

He's taking another bite at it.

There's nothing quite like living down to the MSM's stereotypes about the South, is there?

“He espouses nativism, not conservatism.”

That sentence conveys all you need to know about Perry. “He espouses nativism.” In other words, he wants to shut down the border and protect Americans and America. Perry can not abide the thought.

We have heard much about TONE lately. This is pure acid. Perry and his campaign staff are fools if they think this will garner them any points.

Perry questions Trump’s Christianity. That is low. Has Perry ever questioned Obama’s Christianity?

When Trump gets through with him, he’ll have to get use to using two toilets at once.

Rick Perry can’t win, so has probably been the GOP-E designated go after Trump guy. He has nothing better to say anyway.

Uh, the Americans who fomented our Revolution were clearly fomenters of discord, & if not for them, our national dish would be fish & chips. Eastern Europe would still be Communist.

The Republican party, particularly the leadership, needs some discord. They need to be shaken to the core.

The last thing America needs right now is for the base of the party to reconcile with the corrupt, big-government leadership. Instead, give them hell until they resign.

Rick Perry is entering his third—fourth?—week talking about nothing except Donald Trump.

Great campaign strategy!

Liberals use the word "mean-spirited."

I wonder where Perry picked that up?

Guess I'll post a sarcastic pic after all.

By taking the side of the leftist media, Rick Perry and Nikki Haley have totally destroyed their political careers. They are done, finished.

They are so clueless. How can they be so blind and not comprehend what is going on in America.

Donald Trump is saying what most politicians on the right not only should have been saying but should have doing long time ago. But anymore it is difficult to tell one party apart from the other. Liberals keep dishing out crap and lies and republicans fall right in line and second the motion. So what good does it do even to vote for them. Is it any big wonder or surprise when Donald speeches resonate with the general public which is getting sick and tired of the crap, lies, deceit, corruption and hogwash served up on a daily basis by both parties. There is only one question remaining, if Donald by sheer chance would get elected, would he actually come through with what he is promising to do? If I could be sure of it I would vote for him in less than a heartbeat.

Just saw Rick in the news trying to define a terrible condition he called Trumpism. But he missed the definition entirely.

Trumpism: an obsessive/compulsive disorder suffered by Republican presidential candidates such as Rick Perry, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio and others.

Trump may or may not be conservative at all. But he’s saying things that people are saying to themselves and behind closed doors. THATS why we like him! He’s saying things where we respond with “yes!”, whereas when other candidates speak we say “WTF” or “are you living in an alternate universe?”
