You weren’t told to get out of your car...then what could have happened?
I have no reasons to have my path cross the police virtually ever...but then there’s the odd time, like yesterday. My neighbor called about 20 miles from home saying that she was in her car and the alarm company said she had an open door. She gave me her gate code and I went over and saw the back door open and closed it. Never went inside. As I was exiting the side gate, a policeman came up and was very excited to lecture the hell out of me for being on her property. I tried to explain to him that the owner had just called me but he told me to just shut up and listen and that I could have been killed by a burglar had that been the case and that I shouldn’t have complied with my neighbor. He asked me to come back with him into the house to confirm if any items had been moved or were out of order. I denied him saying that I never entered the house and could not attest to anything inside. He then told me to stay by the gate until he checked the house and I told him that I’m going home and if he has any further questions of me to ring the bell and I’d be happy to comply. The guy was a high stung power tripper and said he was just trying to educate me for my own safety. I politely thanked him and said that if it ever happens again, I’ll have a loaded pistol with me...he stumbled and stammered and as I returned to my home. If I had been black, I’m thinking I would have been arrested.

I doubt it. But if you had argued and fought with him, you would have been arrested regardless of your color.

I’ve never had a security alarm system, and about the only image I have of them is what they show in movies and tv shows. If your home alarm goes off, and you’re not at home, does the security company automatically call the police to have them check it out? If so, why did your neighbor call you to check it out?
