Donald Trump: As president, 'I'll change my tone'
CNN ^ | MJ Lee

Donald Trump's boisterous personality is fueling his campaign, but the billionaire businessman insists there is also a more dignified side to him.

In an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper on Wednesday, Trump — who created one of the most memorable moments of the 2016 campaign so far by sharing rival Lindsey Graham's cell phone number on national television — suggested that he would shift his rhetoric as president.

"As president, you would change your tone?" Cooper asked.

"Oh, I'd think so," Trump said. "I'll change my tone."

Trump defended his recent attacks on his fellow candidates, saying he has been hitting back because he was first provoked.

"I didn't start it with Lindsey Graham. I couldn't care less about Lindsey Graham. He's registered at I think zero in the polls," Trump said. "Lindsey Graham called me a jackass. So am I supposed to say, 'Oh, it's OK'? I'm called a jackass. You have to fight back."

No he won't. He doesn't have it in him to change a lifetime's worth of habit and personality.

LOL...Spot on!

--I liked Truman and HIS ‘tone’ didn’t make him anybody’s idea of a ‘people pleaser’. I think he was effective, direct, sincere and one of the best Presidents we were lucky to have.

Here's his reply to a critic who panned his daughter when she sung:

THE WHITE HOUSE

WASHINGTON

Mr Hume: I've just read your lousy review of Margaret's concert. I've come to the conclusion that you are an "eight ulcer man on four ulcer pay."

It seems to me that you are a frustrated old man who wishes he could have been successful. When you write such poppy-cock as was in the back section of the paper you work for it shows conclusively that you're off the beam and at least four of your ulcers are at work.

Some day I hope to meet you. When that happens you'll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and perhaps a supporter below!

Pegler, a gutter snipe, is a gentleman alongside you. I hope you'll accept that statement as a worse insult than a reflection on your ancestry.

H.S.T.

...is that anything like his lifetime's worth of supporting liberalism and far left Democrats?

By “change his tone” I think he means that he won’t call Kim Jong Un an a-hole in his inaugural address.

He’d let a respectable week or two pass first.

In 2012, Mitt Romney, the nice Mormon family man we love, was harsh during primary season.

His tone changed. His campaign was acting as expected.

His next two issues should be Planned Parenthood and the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups. If he does that, his roll will continue.

He’s already hit Planned Parenthood. Said he would cut of their funding ASAP.

but he hasn’t made that a main cause......if he did, it would help him (and the cause). Same true for any candidate...this is big fat target.....exposed....videos everywhere and more coming.....

Neither do I, and I don’t think he is capable of it anyway, which is another plus.

They are both jackasses.

I'll vote for whom I can count on to do the right thing. Cruz more than likely. Maybe Walker.

He’s not really a candidate as I see it. I for one am not going to trouble my poor little brain wondering whether he is this way or that way for the next 16 months. I am aware of all the things you pointed out.

That is not to say that he does not have a function. What is that function?

Entertainment? That’s cool.
Dislodge GOPe dirtbags? That’s cool.
Make Hillary think she has it in the bag? That’s cool.
Tweak the media dirtbags? That’s cool.
Make Lindsay Graham look like an idiot? That’s cool.

Seriously, the only way you can object to Trump is if you really, really think he’s destined to be the nominee. I honestly do not see more than a 2% chance of that happening, so I simply cannot and will not worry about it. Whatever you want to say about his conservatism is fine, I am not really supporting him as a candidate. I support him as a system disruptor and I really like what he is doing. Our system is so blitheringly corrupt and broken and infiltrated by saboteurs....it ain’t gonna be pretty while it gets fixed and I cannot say if this is the fix and you can’t either. Respectfully I say, sit back and enjoy.

No his “main cause” is THE main cause. The invasion.

Hmm, the author forgot to say ‘defending himself from the attacks of fellow candidates’ - least I'm pretty sure that's the case, has anyone seen Trump open the guns on anyone who didn't strike at him first (among the Republicans.)

Ha!

I guess he went off on the Russian ambassador Molotov, too. Molotov said: “I've never been spoken to like this in my life!”

Truman's reply: “Well if you would keep your agreements with people, no one would talk to you like this!”
