Donald Trump: As president, 'I'll change my tone'

Donald Trump's boisterous personality is fueling his campaign, but the billionaire businessman insists there is also a more dignified side to him.

In an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper on Wednesday, Trump — who created one of the most memorable moments of the 2016 campaign so far by sharing rival Lindsey Graham's cell phone number on national television — suggested that he would shift his rhetoric as president.

"As president, you would change your tone?" Cooper asked.

"Oh, I'd think so," Trump said. "I'll change my tone."

Trump defended his recent attacks on his fellow candidates, saying he has been hitting back because he was first provoked.

"I didn't start it with Lindsey Graham. I couldn't care less about Lindsey Graham. He's registered at I think zero in the polls," Trump said. "Lindsey Graham called me a jackass. So am I supposed to say, 'Oh, it's OK'? I'm called a jackass. You have to fight back."

Gee, that's a real grown-up thing to say just because we disagree. I thought ad hominem attacks were proprietary to liberal scumbags who couldn't win their arguments on the merits and facts. For someone with a national profile, you sure don't act very professional. It must be just an act because you've shown yourself to be really shallow and petty with that remark.

I've seen your profile and a picture of you on your website. You look very young but I didn't realize you were juvenile too. A picture of you in diapers, sucking your thumb and whining for your mommy would be more appropriate. It would be more reflective of your petulant attitude when you realize the whole world doesn't agree with you. People may actually have their own opinions different than yours.

You temper-tantrum reminds me of this William F. Buckley, Jr. quote: "Liberals claim to want to give hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views."

Several times you said straight out that I didn't understand what you were talking about or implied that I was ignorant or I "...don't know what it really means."

I know at least a half dozen apolitical People who are acting like they just woke up from a Coma when Trump started bringing up Illegal Invader Crime and Trade issues.

They never listened to me no matter how hard I tried. LOL

Do not underestimate Trumps Appeal. Do I think he can keep it going, who knows.

He just jumped into the Planned Parenthood fray and he said last week that he backed the 20 Week Abortion Ban that Congress is trying to Pass and Obama said he would Veto.

The blather I am reading here about Single Issue Voters makes me laugh. Trump is bringing up what, four or five Issues while shedding the light on things we here had assumed People already knew.

Now it appears many of those same People are finally listening, and like it or not it’s ONLY because of Trump.

Cruz and Santorum have indeed been saying the things that Trump has been saying and in all those Years, what has been accomplished? Money talks, Bullshit walks.

Have the Families and Victims of Criminal Illegal Invaders ever been invited to Testify in front of Congress because of a rising Public Outcry fueled by Cruz or Santorum? Has there been any Legislation being debated in Congress going after Sanctuary Cities?

Trump did that and he isn’t even an Elected Representative.
He has no Power in Government yet he SHAMED Lord Obama into lowering the Flags for the Five Murdered Service Members and every thinking American knows it.

Something is going on and the Media is not able to ignore it like they do with every Republican Politician out there.

Trump talks and People who didn’t give a damn about Politics just two weeks ago are finally listening. Has anyone else on our side come even close to making that happen? You know the answer whether or not you want to admit it.

I have no idea where this will end up, but for now Trump is controlling the Conversation and making People care about the causes our side is Championing.

He may be feeding on People’s Frustrations, but isn’t every Politician? This is going to be the most interesting Campaign Season that we have ever seen. Hang on to your Hat.

You really should try and stay on topic. And you should quit reading with so little comprehension. I was addressing a narrow point....the point that Trump is the only one to bring up these issues - which was the point I was responding to. That simply isn’t true.

Certainly he’s been more effective at bringing illegal immigration to the fore, but that was never in debate....I’ve never said anything different.

Straighten out those panties, and stay on topic.
