Jon Stewart To President Obama: Act Quickly If You’re Going ‘To Take Away Americans’ Guns’

During the July 21 airing of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart told President Barack Obama he needs to act quickly if he’s going to “take away Americans’ guns and declare martial law.”

Obama walked out to sit beside Stewart amid rousing rounds of applause. The two exchanged niceties amid laughter, with Stewart pointing out Obama has “about a year” left in office and Obama responded by saying he is going to issue an executive order forbidding Stewart from leaving The Daily Show. (Stewart previously announced he is leaving the show in August.)

According to Deadline, Stewart then began making observations and asking questions based on Obama’s limited time in office.

Stewart said, ““You don’t have that much time to take away Americans’ guns [and] declare martial law… if you’re going to do that, you better get started.”

Why does Obama go on these late night entertainment shows only? When was the last time he was on any halfway serious news show such as Meet The Press???

I have always taken even their jests as a sign of intent.

If you take those indicators seriously, those (allegedly) on our side are all over you calling you a "conspiracy theorist" or "wacko bird" or some such.

I didn't see the actual tape, but my sense is that Stewart was being sarcastic, i.e., he was saying that it's absurd for anyone to think that Obama would try to confiscate guns and declare martial law.

This is standard left-wing mockery; whenever they mock the very possibility of something happening, you can be sure it's something they plan to do. We all remember how they said it was absurd to think that anyone might suffer criminal sanctions for opposing gay marriage.

Stewart is an idiot, and I believe he was trying be funny and sarcastic. But he fails to realize - or doesn’t give a rat’s rear end - that millions of folks in this country are already jittery, and take this issue damn seriously. He appears to have been pulling the chain a bit to get a reaction.

That was my take also. But remember, just 10 years ago they used to joke about "gay marriage" the same way.

Like I said in an earlier post... one has only to study the history of these people to understand that when they tell you what they’re going to do you, they mean it.
