Venezuelan farmers ordered to hand over produce to state
UK Telegraph ^ | July 21, 2015 | Harriet Alexander

Venezuela's embattled government has taken the drastic step of forcing food producers to sell their produce to the state, in a bid to counter the ever-worsening shortages. Farmers and manufacturers who produce milk, pasta, oil, rice, sugar and flour have been told to supply between 30 per cent and 100 per cent of their products to the state stores. Shortages, rationing and queues outside supermarkets have become a way of life for Venezuelans, as their isolated country battles against rigid currency controls and a shortage of US dollars – making it difficult for Venezuelans to find imported goods.

This is what they voted for. They simply loved Hugo and elected him twice. Congratulations!

Just as in the Soviet Union during Stalin's time, when Stalin would do something bad, people would say, "Lenin would have never done this." It's the same denial in Venezuela with those who oppose Maduro, "Chavez never would have done this." Guess what, Lenin and Chavez would have done the same exact things that Stalin and Maduro have done.

“...going around counting and measuring and taking off to storage,” supposedly “for fair distribution.”

My small garden in back of my townhouse has a high solid brick wall around it. It is so tall, a man has to use a ladder to get over it. I had 135 pots growing food one year and no one could know that unless the brick wall was scaled, but to get to my walls, which every townhouse has, a man would have to start at one end and move a ladder with him until he got to mine which is in the middle of all those walls.

On one of my walls, there is a climbing rose and those thorns are the worst I have ever seen on a rose vine. The termite man does take a ladder and climb over all those walls. One time I saw the termite man in my garden and went out. He was bleeding from all those thorns grabbing him. I apologized for the vine but he said never to cut down that vine because a man would give trying to get over that wall.

Except for my walls, I don’t know how a farmer or suburb liver could grow food and people not know it. In a bad emergency, even the neighbors not growing food, would know there is food near them and they would go after it. Is the grower of food going to kill those people? I don’t know the answer to that.

I’m glad your grandfather made it out. Which part of the Ukraine? Western I’m guessing. Did he have to evade the NKVD?

So when the farmers stop farming where will the state get its food?

The Soviets socialists will eliminate those Kulaks farmers and install their own.

Looking at wikipedia kulak is Russian colloquialism for tightfisted, it literally means fist. So a Spanish equivalent would be tacano (n = squiggly n).

Feel free to use it. I was sure I’d heard it somewhere but I can’t find a source. So of course you may attribute it to me. LOL

Take note of those "No Farms, No Food TM" green bumper stickers you see on every hipster's Suburu Outback on its way to some Farmers' Market to buy kale.

Those stickers are put out by leftist open space "preservationists" ("Land... See Snatch"). Note the registered trademark symbol... yeah, really... like that. They would LOVE to have Venezuela right here in the USA. It's their wet dream.

The message by less totalitarian-minded, more Farming Rights centered groups is No Farmers, No Food. The focus on the farmer rather coveting that family's private property is what makes a HUGE difference.

Charmin Extra Soft is proof to me that we have a great country. Yes, it clogs up my septic tank more quickly, but it’s a trade-off I’m willing to put up with.

Bernie Sanders wants to reduce the number of choices we have at the supermarket. Totalitarians are the same all over.
