I see no cause for arrest.
I’m not a lawyer, but neither do I. Like they said in the article, Texas legal code isn’t clear on “failure to obey” is a fine or arrest.
But it has absolutely nothing to do with her death 3 days later.
Roid Rage?
Ping.
RE: But it has absolutely nothing to do with her death 3 days later.
Why was she jailed for 3 days?
Wasn’t it a case of failing to signal while changing lanes?
I donate see where the cop had a right to tell her to put out her cigarette in her own car. Looks like he was trying to cause trouble.
most will say she should not have been in jail in the 1st place.
I feel its entirely dif issue.
Why was she there for 3 days on a pety traffic violation?
I see no cause for hanging yourself.
After handing her the warning ticket, he should have just said, “Have a nice day” and walked back to his car. End of issue.
It was a case of being irritated and not putting out her cigarette in her own car. Major crimes.
He does seem to be quite agitated, while she appears to be reasonably calm.
It’s been quite some time since I was a Prosecutor and,, like everything, we had our “bad cops”, but it was NOTHING like what I’ve been seeing this past few years. Hell, I remember any number of Defendants saying, “well, the cop WAS nice.”
ZERO cause for arrest here. This one stinks to high heaven.
Well there you go.
Failure to signal a lane change is a serious crime..
Anti-smoking Nazis think they have the right to tell anybody anywhere to put out their cigarettes.
I watched it. There were precursor causes on both sides in my opinion. She was verbally rude and he definitely didn’t like having his authority to command her actions. This is what prompted the takeout and takedown.
Regardless, I fail to see what this episode in the saga has to do with her self-hanging.
She might have had a case with wrongful arrest, might not. She had her foul mouth and Obama’s brothers and sisters on her side, he had the technicality of the law on his side. I guess her mistake was thinking she was in Baltimore and not in Texas - who knows. The end result is she killed herself.
White (young men in particular) people hang themselves all the time in jail, and the country does not care.
RE: Failure to signal a lane change is a serious crime..
Punishable by what?
I consider it potentially a weapon.
