EVENT: Protesting a Bad Deal with Iran, American Hostages Left Behind
SPEAKERS: Penny Nance, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sarah Stern, and Tiffany Barrans and Sarah Stern, Founder & President of EMET, all speaking in front of the White House against the bad deal with Iran!
Never heard of any of them except for Cruz.
Especially since 0bama slapped America in the face (again) by rushing to get approval from the UN before Congress even looks at the deal, this is our one last chance - if we even have a last chance.
Thank you Senator Cruz. There should be a wide range of support, particularly from the left, believe it or not.
Did Iran get the 50 billion yet? If they did then it probably won’t matter.
I never heard of the others either. But Cruz is enough for me, when the cause is just.
Clearly the left thinks it has discovered a new way to impose its will on the people without reference to the Constitution. First we turn the supermajority required to confirm the treaty on its head and now we require two thirds to overcome the the president veto in order to reject a treaty. We were advised by Speaker Pelosi that if we want to know what was in Obama care we had to pass it. Evidently, even if we pass the Iran deal we will not know what is in it.
Obama care left the door open for bureaucrats to regulate and in effect expand or alter the law passed by Congress. Not satisfied with that way around the Constitution, Obama simply ruled by fiat when political pressure demanded it. I have no doubt that the Obama's Iran deal, besides secret protocols, will have much flexibility invested in the United Nations to substantially alter the terms of the deal, with hardly anyone expecting those terms to be improved from an American perspective.
Truly, we are moving precipitously into a new post constitutional age of tyranny imposed by domestic legislation or international treaty but all to the same end.
I am very disappointed in Ted Cruz for not opposing, as did Tom Cotton, the structure of this deal from the very beginning. It is a little bit late now, the fix is in.
Where are the rest of the GOP leadership?
Go, Ted!
1) A Senator asks the Senate parliamentarian to rule whether Obama's proposed deal fits the parameters of the Corker bill. Have the Senate vote no on that question, a mere 51 votes needed. Then do the same to rule that in the sense of the US Senate that the proposed Iran deal IS a treaty, requiring 2/3 Senate approval. Then state the Senate is ready and willing to promptly consider said Treaty whenever Obama wishes to submit it but that until ratified it isn't binding on the US and under US law status quo ante with Iran remains..
This would be essentially the same process Harry Reid used to remove the filibuster from Obama's nominations. And having the Senate vote the deal IS a treaty is at least as Constitutional as having Obama, alone, declare it is not. Executive agreements could still exist in the future for items the Senate didn't want to weigh in on. House action would not be needed. I don't know whether the process could be started by any Senator, such as Cruz, or whether it would take the Majority Leader to start it. But there would at least be a chance McConnell would go along in this case. The media would doubtless scream that the GOP reneged on its deal, but the GOP can honestly respond that Obama reneged first by making a bigger deal than he'd promised and by taking it to the UN before Congress. Public opinion is currently against Obama here. If taken to the courts they should allow significant deference to the Senate's power over its own rules (long time Freepers will recall Dungheap Harkin starting Clinton's impeachment trial by having Chief Justice Renhquist rule just that) and the easy way out for any conflicted court would be to state that if Obama's deal is a golden as he claims, then he should have no trouble getting it ratified.
FYI.
There’s one this evening in NYC too.
Yes!! NYC rally for tonight is posted here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3315058/posts
Here’s to hoping Cruz will say something to outrage the media enough to cover the event.
Something to the effect of nuking Iran, treason, impeachment, execution. Etc. Cheers.
Otherwise, it will be crickets.
Just got a text from Cruz HQ that Cruz is on Hannity tonight.
