Gov. Jerry Brown, in an ominous appeal on climate change, said Tuesday that the world may already have “gone over the edge” on global warming and that humanity must reverse course or face extinction.
“We don’t even know how far we’ve gone, or if we’ve gone over the edge,” Brown said at a climate summit at the Vatican. “There are tipping points, feedback loops, this is not some linear set of problems that we can predict. We have to take measures against an uncertain future which may well be something no one ever wants. We are talking about extinction. We are talking about climate regimes that have not been seen for tens of millions of years. We’re not there yet, but we’re on our way.”

What’s odd (really not) is that this “crisis” like all others can only be “solved” by imposition of a socialist/fascist top-down totalitarian dictatorship. Hyper-bureaucrat “overseers” will regulate and control ALL aspects of your soon to be grim life! As we “ordinaries” will exist on little more than subsistence rations... our “owners” excepted of course! A Totalitarian’s Dream! Anthropogenic Global Warming… aka: Climate change (in cold winters).

Personally Jerry, if I were you I would be terrified of the nuclear disaster from Fukushima. You really might want to take a look at the radiation levels in the various sea creatures washing up on California’s shores.

I thought total extinction of the human species was the ultimate objective of the “anti-growth” crowd. There are the repeated warnings that we are reaching the maximum limit of how many human beings this planet can support, the our growth is “not sustainable”, that we have reached the “peak oil” and our standard of living must necessarily decline, that there shall be mass starvation and ultimately a scrabble for survival, with the end result of decivilizing the world into total chaos, in which continued human existence is impossible - last man on earth and all.
And it sounds as if these “end of days” liberals are almost GLEEFUL at the prospect, when the gentle squirrels and rabbits may once again take their rightful place as the guardians of the earth. First of all, the earth is NEVER going to warm up enough to wipe out the human race, and secondly, there is no mechanism by which the level of carbon dioxide has one whit of effect on the average temperature of the biosphere in which we all live.
The old fairy tale about “breathing up all the oxygen” is a self-regulating mechanism, in that as CO2 levels get HIGHER, plant growth, which DEPENDS on CO2 as a plant food, grows ever more lush, automatically sequestering the CO2 all over again, and incidentally releasing oxygen, regenerating the atmosphere and surface waters. The fact is, the current level of CO2 in the atmosphere is almost at starvation level for additional plant growth.
The human race may get wiped out to the last man, but not because of excess carbon dioxide or runaway global warming.

As if Moon beam wouldn’t like to see people become extinct. That’s what commie libs are all about. Returning the planet Earth to animals only.
I saw a show which was supposed to be a documentary on that very subject. It was on Discovery or Nat’l Geo. or one of those supposedly serious channels. And they concluded that earth would be cleaner, less polluted, animal life would proliferate, etc. if earth existed as is but without man.

There’s no perspective with the liberals who push this global warming carbon credit stuff. For example, don’t we face some greater threats to our survival from ISIS than from global warming???
