Donald Trump is soaring over his GOP rivals in a new nationwide Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted amid his controversial comments about Sen. John McCains (R-Ariz.) war hero status.
According to the just-released poll, Trump with 24 percent support among likely Republican voters holds a comfortable, double-digit lead over nearest competitor Scott Walker, who captures 13 percent support.
Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, and Sen. Marco Rubio round up the top 5 with 12, 8, and 7 percentage points of support, respectively. Sen. Rand Paul, meanwhile, sits in sixth place with 5 percentage points.

Juan has been a stain since his return from SE Asia.
Oh My,
The Cheap Labor Express will not be happy about this.
The Ministry of Propaganda was supposed to have driven him from the race already.
Not comprehending this at all. With the exception of Jeb Bush (who is guaranteed to lose), Trump is probably the worst candidate that the GOP could nominate since he has foot in mouth disease and would almost certainly self destruct in the general election like Tod Akin or Richard Mourdock.
He also seems to be a lose cannon whose current and very strongly stated political views on issues such as immigration are almost completely opposite of his very strongly stated political views from just a few years ago.
The Straight Talk Express just careened off the road into an RNC billboard.
Rut-roh.
You need to think again. Trump is BRILLIANT. He has not put his foot in his mouth, he’s gotten almost all the media attention for the last several days AND come out on top WITHOUT apologizing or saying “Well, that wasn’t really me.”
When you’ve made your first billion come back and we’ll talk about it.
Correction “a loose cannon”
Given the level of anger of most Americans this is not surprising at all.
Trump razed the political landscape and the frauds are running for the tall grass.
It’s long over due.
What about Lindsey Graham with his 0.2?
Not sure the polls have had time yet to reflect what the outcome of his McCain comments will be. The VFW and several other veterans organizations have just come out against him for his belittling of McCains POW status. See the following post http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3314458/posts
* Health Care? (maybe a bit early)
* Defense of Israel and lampooning the "deal" Obummer/Kerry made?
* More VA/Vets/Weak Military talk?
* Welfare Fraud? Medicare Fraud?
* Specific acts of Rino-ism? Attack Boehner, McConnell?
* Corporate taxes? Flat Tax? Consumption Tax?
He's our canvas. Tell him what we want!
There is a pretty big crowd who are in the same boat as you.
They don't understand what's going on in the lives of ordinary people either.
Trump does.
By that logic we should beg Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg to be our nominee.
A few years ago he proposed a one time tax on wealth (not generally seen as a conservative idea) and criticized Romney for being to stridently anti immigrant and scaring latinos away from the Republican Party. So, I have no idea what side of any of those issues Donald Trump will come out on at the moment.
Meghan McCain was just on with Megyn Kelly to say how disgusted she is over Trumps comment and how much she likes both Lindsay Graham and Marco Rubio in this race. Fox is pulling out all the stops for Jeb.
