Ya know, until the Hanoi peace talks, these guys were just meat in a prison. They were political fodder when candidate mccarthy said he would get on his knees and beg for their release. They survived because they were worth more to the Communists alive, than dead, to make all that propaganda, and apologetic ‘I done did wrong to yah’ movies, and aid the darn hippie in Frisco peaceniks with their beaten-out-of-them blathering.
