Hiram Ramirez didn't expect problems this week when she went to get a birth certificate for her newborn daughter, Dulce.

Ramirez, 28, a native of neighboring Reynosa, Mexico, crossed the border illegally and has lived in the Rio Grande Valley for years. Her two older daughters, ages 3 and 14, were U.S.-born, and she easily obtained birth certificates for them using her Mexican voter registration and consular identification card. She relied on the birth certificates to register her girls for school, Medicaid and other government services.

So you ignore our laws when you sneak into our country and then sue us in a court of law when you feel wronged. Sorry you can't get your "Medicaid and other government services".

If the child is legally a US citizen, a questionable practice but current interpretation of the law, then it’s not up to a state to decide she can’t have a birth certificate.

There are Texas hospitals within walking distance of the border. The concrete sidewalks are worn into troughs. The hospitals are broke. Mexicans walk to them to have their children so they can have anchor babies. The US is the only country that allows anchor babies.

Have these people no shame? They come here illegally then use our own laws against us. We are in an upside down world.

Read the 11th amendment. Non citizens have no standing to sue any US citizen or entity.

Of course if the government decides to ignore or violate the Constitution it is perfectly OK. Somebody will have to redefine the crime of treason, though.

The laws of justice grind very slowly. That lawsuit may go on for years.

Sniff...

That’s the point. What law? We have no law? She picks and chooses which laws she wishes to obey and then cries victim when the law ignores her.

The mother’s crimes do not affect the rights of the child.

Then you are not an immigrant.

Immigrants are people who apply to be Americans, wait their turn, pay their fees, learn the language and comply with the laws.

Immigrants have rights.

Illegal aliens have the right to be deported.

The rights of the child are enforced by the rule of law. In the United States we now have a smorgasbord legal system where you can pick and choose which laws you wish to obey and which laws you choose to ignore. Texas is making that choice in this regard. Too bad for the illegal woman.

They demand Constitutional protection while disobeying our laws. OTOH, the 14th. Amendment was for escaped slaves from the South, not south of our border.

Yes, The 14th Amendment clearly states “under the jurisdiction”, since illegal aliens did not apply to fall under the jursidiction of the U.S. their children are foreign nationals illegally in our country, the same as the parents. Deport the whole family.
