If a fireman puts out 100 fires and saves a dozen lives, then robs a convenience store, does he get a pass on the crime because of his good deeds? Perhaps the good deed carries some weight in the sentencing phase of the trial..
I respect McCain for his service to America and for his time in prison, but he is a disgrace to the conservative movement and needs to label himself, as I label him, a democrat.
Yes,he *is* a Rat.But that's not what's under discussion here. The matter at hand is how much respect,if any, does McCain's *military record* warrant. My basic opinion is that if he didn't engage in any misconduct or violate any general orders or orders from superiors at the Hanoi Hilton then he deserves enormous respect...particularly given the savage treatment he withstood.
And,of course, the same is true of,most likely,99.9% of the Americans held by the North Vietnamese savages.
McCain was no Bergdahl...that's for *damn* sure.
You left out when McCain got caught in the Savings and Loan scandal, then just walked away. A normal guy would have done a couple of years in prison.
