For the same reason Franken’s statement disqualified him - because a President should not be disparaging POWs. Under any circumstances.
lord McCain disparage himself and this nation. Reality really is not for the weak at heart.
He was talking about John McCain. You are using a classic PC tactic of isolating one remark and then generalizing it to include all POW’s. That is intellectually dishonest. Further more Trump said McCain is a war hero in the next sentence. This is a media/GOPe manufactured event.
-—” because a President should not be disparaging POWs. Under any circumstances.”
Have to disagree with you. If a POW becomes an Obama supporter wouldn’t you disparage him/her? OF course you would!
I think Trump isn’t articulate enough to explain himself, but what he’s trying to say is he admires “heros” in the true sense of the word. And while there are many different definitions of “hero” the one that comes to mind is someone who demonstrated bravery and saved some people.
McCain stint as a POW only roughly fits the classic defintition of “hero” because he was a SURVIVOR of a brutal imprisonment. But that’s all.
But he’s not the type of “HERO” who dodged bullets while trying to save an injured comrade.
Applying that metaphor to his politics, McCain has been an absolute coward.
Trump is right here. He just needs to articulate the foregoing points.
So McCain’s political record and political name calling is immune from criticism forever? Meghan is that you?
