I’m good friends with people who immigrated legally to this country. It really pisses them off to have politicians pandering to the illegals. It diminishes all the time, money, and effort my friends put in to “play by the rules” to enter legally.
I’m a first-gen American whose parents and grandparents fled here from Communism. They waited years upon years for their turn, hoping they were allowed into the USA. My father is especially furious when he hears the illegal aliens called “immigrants.”

I agree. I used to walk past the line winding around the side of the federal building in LA every day on my way to work. It was all the patient, rule following people in line for immigration matters. Every time somebody expresses sympathy for the illegals, my heart goes out to the legal immigrants who wait years in stupid lines.
