That’s funny - while on active duty I always traveled armed while crossing the country between duty assignments. Never really thought about getting some politician’s permission, since my oath was to our Constitution.
Good. I’ve been wondering if governors could do this.
Too bad this isn’t in response to federal Fascism.
Not sure of the accuracy of this snip nor how it relates to this action.

militia of the United States as defined by 10 U.S.C. § 311. National Guard units
are under the dual control of the state and the federal government.

Disarming happened under Clinton if I remember correctly.
On thing it does is force the feds to either move or let it stand.
Irrelevant. Feds will come in and disarm them again.
I remember reading on here somewhere that GHW Bush was the one who signed it into law. But then again everything you read on interweebs is true! No? lol
You may be correct.
It appears this gun-free zone type policy can actually be traced back to Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 5210.56, signed into effect in February 1992 by Donald J. Atwood, deputy secretary of defense under President George H.W. Bush.
Via snopes (I know, I know ... but they have a good summary): http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/baseguns.asp
It was during the presidency of George H.W. Bush, not Bill Clinton, that the U.S. Department of Defense issued a directive in February 1992 affecting the carrying of firearms on bases by military personnel. That directive was eventually implemented through a regulation 190-14 issued by the Department of the Army (not via executive order) in March 1993, just two months after President Clinton assumed office.
Additionally, that change in regulations (which applied only to the Army, not other branches of the U.S. armed forces) did not ban the carrying of weapons by soldiers on Army bases; rather, it restricted the authorization to carry firearms to personnel engaged in law enforcement and security duties, and to personnel stationed at facilities where there was “a reasonable expectation that life or Army assets would be jeopardized if firearms were not carried”:
a. The authorization to carry firearms will be issued only to qualified personnel when there is a reasonable expectation that life or Department of the Army (DA) assets will be jeopardized if firearms are not carried. Evaluation of the necessity to carry a firearm will be made considering this expectation weighed against the possible consequences of accidental or indiscriminate use of firearms.
b. DA personnel regularly engaged in law enforcement or security duties will be armed.
c. DA personnel are authorized to carry firearms while engaged in security duties, protecting personnel and vital Government assets, or guarding prisoners.

Oklahoma Governor Authorizes Arming Certain Military Personnel on Military Installations
some balls being used finally. We are on a war footing and it’s about GDT someone put it out there.
The state governors need to step up and be the grown ups showing leadership due to lack thereof these days in DC. Good move on the governors part.
ALL Military installations and ALL critical DOD facilities manned by civilians such as weapons production facilities should be secured by military sentry and not civilian security contractors. An incident happened in my neck of the woods a few years ago. Three peaceniks breached security and entered a nuclear weapons processing facility unchallenged and undetected. What if this man had been with them? The following level of standards is not possible in a contracted security enviroment.
1. To take charge of this post and all government property in view.
2. To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
3. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
4. To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guard house than my own.
5. To quit my post only when properly relieved.
6. To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me all orders from the commanding officer, field officer of the day, officer of the day, and officers and petty officers of the watch.
7. To talk to no one except in line of duty.
8. To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.
9. To call the petty officer of the watch in any case not covered by instructions.
10. To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.
11. To be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post, and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.
