GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday defended his supporters from Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), saying his attacks on the right will cost him in his campaign for reelection next year.
McCain said in an interview published Thursday that the New York business mogul had fired up the crazies with his anti-immigration rhetoric.
They werent crazies these were great Americans, Trump responded on MSNBCs Morning Joe.
And when he calls them crazies, I think he will lose the primary, he added. I think he will lose the primary. If the right person runs against, theyll beat him in the primary.
State Sen. Kelli Ward announced on Tuesday she is McCains first Republican primary challenger. She promised immigration will be a major theme of her Senate campaign.
Trump said that, unlike McCain, hes a loyalist who wont back away from principles or allies.
Im a person who if someone sticks with me Im with that person, he said. And John McCain was very disloyal to me.
I supported John McCain, Trump added of the senator's 2012 GOP presidential bid.
He let us down because he lost, but you know it was a hard one after what happened with the economy.
Trump also addressed Thursdays mass shooting in Chattanooga, Tenn., calling on the military to reevaluate its policy on gun-free zones after four Marines died in the attack.
We have to start doing something with these gun-free zones, Trump said. They were sitting there and they were just targets for this madman.

more importantly, will the old man run again?
I sure hope so.
More like a shuffle.
One can only hope!
I don’t know the last time I really ran, but make a real effort to take real steps
the tendency to shuffle is great : )
LOL!
Glad I wasn’t drinking anything..
It was a 2008 Presidential bid.
Only if he forms some kind of a PAC which can donate funds from individuals
Me too, old FRiend.
Me too.
Trump is an unapologetic winner.
He never backs down.
He has not asked me for any money! I love that. He doesn’t NEED my money!
He could shake things up bigtime in DC.
The only other one I trust is Ted Cruz, who unlike the other Loser Party candidates, has NOT repudiated Trump.
End of rant...thank you and don’t forget to tip your waiter...
What, you mean this Liberal isn’t endorsing McCain when the Number One favorite around here did in 2010?
OMG
McCain has announced that he has been partially successful in purging the Arizona party of Tea Party members or “crazies” if you prefer. If we are “crazy” for wanting to protect our country so be it.
Would be awesome, I think, if Trump really put his money into defeating RINOs and replacing them with Constitutionalists.
I don’t think he’ll be elected President.
Our crowd is growing everyday.
Hopefully he gets primaried and somebody worthwhile gets in..
a Trump-backed candidate will likely steamroller McCain in the primary.
*************
Possible. But never forget Mississippi where it was impossible
to remove and ingrained candidate.
From your mouth to God’s ears. Good grief, McCain. Retire already! Go home.
May Donald be prescient here.
