I realized, while living in SoCal for 20 years, that to some cultures, life is very cheap. The gangs kill other gang members and only the immediate families cry. Same when an outsider is killed....only the immediate family cries. Nobody much cares in SoCal. I was acquainted with 3 people who were actually murdered. Never in my life did I think I would ever know anyone who was murdered. It was appalling to me. Not so much to the population in general. Just life in SoCal.
