I’m not very familiar with the SU25 theory.
It doesn’t seem to have credibility.

But I noticed a logical flaw in the reasons you gave for why it couldn’t shoot down a passenger plane.

This term, “logical.” I don’t believe it means what you think it means.

I still won't work, it just says video no longer available. I read the transcript though. Utter confusion. Dead parrots everywhere. It would be funny if not so tragic. The transcript shows that these guys were sure it was a downed military plane until they arrived on scene.

Cmdr: It’s a civilian.

Cmdr:...F***. Passenger plane was f*****.

-snip-

Cmdr: The other plane that fell down, they are after them, the pilots.

Background: The second one?

Cmdr: Yes, there’s 2 planes taken down. We need the second.

Background: The second one is a civilian too?

Background: The fighter jet brought down this one, and our people brought down the fighter.

Background: They decided to do it this way, to look like we have brought down the plane.

-snip-

These guys had know idea what was going on.

Think about how intercepts work, where the assets are positioned, the direction MH17 was traveling, and how utterly stupid you sound with your “logic.”

Since a BUK radar system truck cannot fly around at the same speed and altitude as a passenger plane, it cannot possibly shoot one down with one of its missiles.
That’s the logic of what you are saying.

Months before the plane was shot down. That is NOT hindsight

No it's not and you're a idiot for making that inference. In any basic intercept, you detect the aircraft as it's coming to you, wait for the target to be within your performance envelope, and take the shot. That is exactly what occurred with the BUK system.

But let's just say your AD guys blew it, the target is moving away from you, but it's still over your territory. You don't send an SU-25, which has low speed, altitude, and limited air to air capability, especially when you have much more capable MiG-29s at your disposal.

And not over the territory in the link you provided. THAT is geography.

General designer of Su-25 says aircraft couldn’t have shot down MH17.

You originally said it was “impossible” for an SU-25 to hit a passenger plane because it cannot reach its altitude or speed (though its missile can).

But a BUK can hit a passenger plane even though the radar system truck is stuck on the ground and won’t move.

This means that your original explanation was totally inadequate in explaining why it was impossible for an SU25 to shoot it down. Maybe it is impossible, but not for the reasons you gave.

I see you keep calling me an idiot in this discussion.
That’s pretty juvenile, can’t you explain your ideas without lobbing insults?

I know. I’ve read it. The personnel sifting through the wreckage say, “Where’s the Sukhoi?” Ukraine has the SU-24, 25, and 27.....none of which have anywhere near the radar signature of a 777.

It’s possible that a BB can kill a human being, but when a .308 kills somebody, you don’t see someone parachute onto a thread to claim “a BB could have done it.”

In 1988, the USA shot down a jumbo passenger plane with 290 passengers on board.

They misidentified the jumbo passenger plane as an attacking fighter jet, an F-14.

I think I did make my point, both on the reasons why the plane cannot perform as claimed and your idiocy. By design, aircraft are meant to move at speeds for their intended purposes. The SU-25 (a ground attack aircraft) carries IR missiles for defense with limited range - far outside what was needed for the pursuit and intercept - a purpose for which it isn't suited. A mobile missile system like the BUK is only intended to move at low speed over terrain where it's going to be positioned. Its radar and missile capability make its speed a non factor.

One of two things are true - You're really that stupid or you purposely created pretzel logic in a poor attempt at "gotcha." Either way, it's idiotic.

Why can’t you add an explanation not previously given without calling someone an idiot?
Maybe it’s just how you are on the internet.

Yes and the operators on the USS Vincennes effed up - probably because they lost fellow servicemen on the USS Stark about 1 year prior. I don’t blame the airline personnel, so what’s your point?

Who came up with the data and compiled the information that was parroted on state media?

You honestly think spies from every powerful nation haven’t infiltrated these important networks since day 1?

A few words on these screens change the fate of the entire globe...

You expressed amazement that a Jumbo jet could be mistaken for a fighter jet when the “radar signature is so different”.

Yet the USA also confused a Jumbo for an F-14 fighter jet in 1988, killing 290 innocent people.
Maybe it’s not such an astounding mistake in a war zone?

Ukraine also accidentally shot down a passenger plane in 2001 with a BUK, killing 78.

The last words of the recording here quote a rebel expressing wonder at who would send a passenger plane right over their conflict.

Maybe we should have used common sense and not sent passenger planes right over a war zone where a military cargo plane was shot down at high altitude?

And each instance the system operators messed up. The fact there was such a history behind it means there are lessons there to be learned by the operators. It will probably happen again at some point in time. KAL 007 strayed out of its flight path. All the other flights were in known commercial routes. All were broadcasting on their civilian transponders. If and when it does the military system operators will again be at fault. What’s the difficult to understand about that?
