•The Cubs, Blue Jays and Dodgers are the most aggressive teams pursuing Yovani Gallardo of the Rangers at this time, writes Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

tonight, the Yankees knocked him around for five runs in six innings, and he struck out just one hitter.

Well, several months have gone by since this thread, and the you-know-what has hit the fan. His ex-prostitute is now dying and reports she got pregnant by him and he wanted her to abort the baby. But she says it is alive and well since she gave it up for adoption. Of course, if this is true, then DNA should be tested immediately, although I don’t know if that would be in time for next week’s voting. There are a number of pro and con comments at this link.

The things stated in this comment at the above link need to be verified or shown false.
* [new] She claims she was in (5+ / 0-)
A romantic relationship in which he provided financial support and she had no other sexual partners for 3 years after they met through her work as an escort.

Also one must consider the article’s source as well as the woman.

This link from The American Conservative is not exactly friendly either.

Daily Kos ? That’s a Democrat mouthpiece. Louisiana is a lot more forgiving of its pols when it comes to sexual indiscretions, a legacy of its French culture. I’d rather Vitter stay in the Senate, but when he gets in the runoff (as expected) with Edwards in a few weeks, I expect even skittish Republicans will go with Vitter.

Agreed, that is why I said “You must consider the source” and then gave a conservative source as well.

We have a Congressman in an adjacent district to mine here in TN, who carried a lot more baggage than Vitter, Dr. Scott DesJarlais, but he was returned again and survived a brutal primary. It helps that he has the most Conservative record in the state and the guy who ran against him in the primary was a rich, entitled RINO trying to claim the “moral” mantle.

I was wondering if something wasn’t going on, some one check the whore’s bank account.

There was a worrisome poll out a couple weeks or so ago that showed Bel Edwards way out in front in the primary and winning the runoff over Vitter EASILY, seemed to be an outlier, most polls I’ve seen show Bel Edwards with 20-something and Republicans combined over 50% suggesting an easy runoff win. Every poll I’ve seen indicated the runoff will be between the 2 of them.

Despite some wanting to have two Republicans in the runoff, as we’ve often seen, if it’s a Conservative vs. a RINO, the combined farces (sic) of the party establishment and the Democrats will elect the RINO. One GOP poll from last month had Scott Angelle and Vitter leading Edwards (with Angelle edging Edwards by a point). If Angelle were to pull that off, he might win (although I can’t judge how “RINO” he is).

Ack ! Regarding Angelle, I forgot he was a Democrat until after Jindal elevated him to the Lt Governor’s vacancy in 2010 after Mitch Landrieu moved to the NOLA Mayor’s job. He switched parties soon after, but did not run for the full term. It doesn’t have any endorsements listed for him on OurCampaigns, but I’m just guessing he’d probably be Jindal’s preference over Vitter (and that carries its own special set of baggage).

The media seems to be jumping on the unfavorable poll(s?), touting Edwards chances and trashing Jindal at every turn (some freepers seem to be helping them on that front, is Jindal dumping toxic waste in the water supply or something?).

“Despite some wanting to have two Republicans in the runoff, as we’ve often seen, if it’s a Conservative vs. a RINO, the combined farces (sic) of the party establishment and the Democrats will elect the RINO. “

Yes. New poll for AG, suggests Caldwell(R/RINO/Ex rat)/Landry(R/Conservative) runoff, I don’t see how Caldwell doesn’t get the dem vote and win the the runoff easily.

I see our guy, State Sen. Elbert Guillory, is dead last in the race for Lt Governor, at 5%. It’ll be between Jeff Parish Pres. John Young (R) and E. Baton Rouge Parish Mayor Kip Holden (D). Young will prevail handily in the runoff.

Yes, it will be difficult for Landry in a runoff, though not necessarily impossible.

I noticed the polling firm “MarblePort” was the same one that had Edwards at 19/20% last month and Angelle at 21%, now Edwards at 41% and Angelle in 4th at 13%. That’s all over the place. I just can’t see Edwards getting much higher than that in a runoff.

Does your man in TN also carry the image of being pro life and anti sleeze, or does he accept what he is, and therefore not risk appearing to be a hypocrit? I always thought that Clinton projected a bit of a naughty boy image, so his behavior was not surprising or a shock. I guess what you said about to other guy TRYING to claiming the “moral” mantle kind of answers my question.

DesJarlais went around his district and apologized for his personal misconduct. It worked well enough that he managed to pull off an upset in being renominated (which he had been written off of earlier, given that he had a high profile State Senator challenger who freely spent — but arrogantly presumed the seat was his just for the asking, and he also audaciously declared victory on election night before all the votes were counted. He managed, in my estimation, to come off looking worse than DesJarlais).

Let’s face it, Congress is a den of thieves and reprobates. I’d rather elect someone with peccadilloes who votes correctly than a saint in his/her personal life who rapes the Constitution and moves us further to the left. Such is the sad state of our government today.

The last three polls show Vitter as having droppped a bit but I still think he’ll
pull it out. If polling is anyone close to accurate it will go to a run off.
