Forget Obama...Republicans made the Iran nukes deal possible(bypassed Constitution)
am thinker ^ | 7/15/15 | newsmachete

Mark Levin has been shouting until he is blue in the face that this truly awful nuclear deal with Iran has been made possible only with the help of Senate Republicans, who passed a bill (99-1, with Tom Cotton of Arkansas the only sane dissenter) making it nearly impossible to stop Obama's agreement with the ayatollahs:

Normally, here's how treaties work: the President negotiates a treaty with another country, like the deal he is negotiating with Iran over its nuclear weapons development. Once the treaty is negotiated, it's submitted to the Senate. Two thirds of the Senate has to vote to approve, or ratify, the treaty. If two thirds do not support it, it is not binding.

But the bill the Congress sent to the President turns things on its head. It will allow the President to lift sanctions on Iran, and unless Congress objects with a 2/3 vote within 30 days, the President's actions are allowed to stand. See the reversal? Formerly, the President needed a 2/3 vote to act, and now the Congress needs a 2/3 vote to stop him from acting. And be assured the Democrats will never let the Republicans get that many votes.

Cruz, Rubio and Paul fought this measure procedurely, at first... but then voted for it on final passage. Totally inexplicable. And totally wrong, from a policy and constitutional perspective.

Sure seems like if the Constitution says a treaty must be approved by the Senate, passing a law subverts the Constitution. Which trumps which?

Unfortunately, it no longer matters. Obama will do what he wants and no one will stop him. Corker deserves to share a cell with Obama, but that is not going to happen.

And people wonder why Trump is #1.

the constitution TRUMPS all... but there needs to be someone to stand for the constitution. no one in government will. it is left to the majority party of that contract to hold things together... WE THE PEOPLE.

Can we hope that the Supreme Court should over-ride this total embarrassment Senate “conservatives” agreed to? Not that they would, but should they?

We must break the back of the GOP establishment. There, said it.

Then, create a second American political party - this one in opposition to the Democrats.

And the stupid, stupid law, by involving the House, further distorted the already damaged architecture of our federal system.

The House has no role in treaties, a supermajority in the Senate is essential.

Why?

Because, since foreign treaties bind 50 sovereign states, the ambassadors (Senators) of those states have to consent.

The next President can revoke the deal, but by then the frozen Iranian assets will have been moved home.

This was never about a nuke deal, it was about Valerie Jarrett getting her people's money back.

“Which trumps which?”

I think that ‘when in doubt’ rely on 200 + years of precedent, tradition and protocol, if nothing else.
The Congressmen we have NOW comprehend NOTHING and care about NOTHING... They neither begin nor END with adherence to the US Constitution.

I say...‘Depart from the book at your own peril’.

They are behaving AS IF the US has NEVER UNTIL NOW negotiated a treaty or agreement with other powers...AS IF we have NO experience or knowledge of how this works.
It’s either CRIMINAL malfeasance and treason. It has to be one or the other to explain what they have done.... and it could possibly be BOTH.

This reminds me of the nursing staff at the hospital where my 90 year old mother was admitted. She needed help getting from her bed to a chair.... (mom weighed 87 lbs., MAYBE) and four ‘nurses’ had to come and assist. A task that should have been routine and should have taken just minutes, was a prolonged and painful cluster&^% involving FOUR professional ‘nurses’ and they acted as if it was the first time in their collective lives that any one of them had EVER moved a patient!!!! (Two of them were ‘large’ girls)

Incompetence is THE culture in America, now. There is a complete absence of accountability, professionalism, individual responsibility and zero prerequisite for anyone in ANY vocation... Mediocrity pervades from top to bottom at all levels.

Well he is wrong. It does not matter what the senate or anybody else in the USA did or does. Once the deal was struck and in the coming days is approved at the UN, then Europe, China, Russia etc will lift their sanctions and it is all over anyway. The US was screwed once everyone started to negotiate.

Gee, I don't know.

Let's pass it by the "Loyal Affirmation" (Supreme Court) and see how they rule.

You cannot convince me the Republicans are not "in" in this. Now they will vote against the deal. Showing what warriors they are, placating us. Then Obama will veto it, showing his people what a warrior he is. Then it comes back to the Congress for a 2/3 veto override...which they will not get...and both sides will point at the other side as causing the problem...result? Iran gets the money, no sanctions, and the bomb! The Republicans set this up and voted for it with ONE abstaining vote. So this includes Rubio, Paul, Bush...and yes, even Cruz...all of the Republicans running who could vote, voted FOR thus deal that basically abdicated the Senate's treaty power.

...and what did WE get from this "negotiation?" NOTHING!!! The verify gives them a 24 day clean up period for each inspection site, the hostages in Iran were not even discussed. All this is is a legacy point for Obama...and the damned Republucans...ALL OF THEM... allowed it to happen. I'm tired of voting for "the next" politician...they all ACT alike regardless of what they say.

The FReeper who keeps posting here that Kentuckians should have plunked their votes for Alison Grimes is once again correct.

Firing Mitch McConnell from his leadership role when we had the chance would have prevented this.

We need to learn this lesson and begin selectively firing the RINOS. Even if on occasion this means (gulp...) pulling the lever for a Democrat.

...as an aside thought...if you are not listening to Levin every evening or getting his FREE podcasts to listen to when you can, then you are simply not informed. This is a perfect example of what I’m saying. You did not hear this line of thought ANYWHERE before now, nothing was said on Fox, Rush never mentioned it, etc. but Levin has been hitting this from the start. He called thus shot BEFORE the legislation was voted upon. I cannot believe the Republicans did this when it was so clearly defined by Levin as a disaster in the making. Get the podcasts folks...learn something BEORE it happens!

Elections alone cannot cure what ails our former republic.

<>Then, create a second American political party<>

States, The Natural Second Party.
