I would emphasize training above all: stick to one firearm that you use over and over at the range. Shoot as much ammunition as you can until you are tired and blistered. Know that weapon and its ammunition and the holster you use until it becomes just like part of your body.
If and when the time comes, you won't mishandle, fumble and miss.

I love having the right to carry openly; and, I usually choose to not openly carry (for the reasoning that Ayoob presents).
A properly and responsibly concealed weapon scares nobody, which can be the wise and prudent path of defensive carry wisdom.

I have never been a fan of Ayoob but it has nothing to do with his knowledge of firearms and laws.
In this case I cannot find anything to disagree with. Maybe just a little with number 9. Sometimes you just can’t carry a large powerful gun. In that case a mediocre gun is better than no gun at all.

Massad Ayoob is a good teacher, and it’s always a good idea to review his writings.

5 rules of a gun fight:
1) gun beats no gun

5) many holes beat one hole
