A tweet by 49ers returner and running back Jarryd Hayne drew the attention of the Anti-Defamation League. Hayne, an Australian attempting to make a conversion from rugby to the NFL, tweeted that Jews killed Jesus. ADL, in a press release, noted that the tweet appeared July 1st and has since been rescinded.

“Jesus wanted to help people but was killed by his own people,” the ADL quoted Hayne writing. When challenged by a fan on twitter, Hayne then wrote, “The Jews were the people who took him to the Romans n forced them to give the order because they couldn’t.”

We should support freedom of speech, even when it’s offensive to some or most. I don’t see anything threatening in what he said.

It’s not threatening, it’s just wrong.

The ADL has freedom of speech too. But it’s a fact that the Gospels make the Jews look a lot worse than the Romans in the events surrounding Jesus’ death. I’ve always found it implausible myself.

Someone had to kill Him.

Otherwise, “Jesus Christ served a life sentence without the possibility of parole to atone for the sins of mankind”.

So?

The prophecy is fulfilled.

I don’t see the problem with the quote.

I’m completely okay with it. Even Judas performed his part but, later regretted it.

Well, at a very shallow level he is right.
But the bigger picture shows that we ALL killed Jesus.

Everything that happened to Jesus was prophesied as well as the actor involved. It happened the way it was supposed to happen for our salvation.

Shouldn’t the ADL be more concerned with those who want to kill Jews today? Including the people we just made the nuke deal with?

Im in S. Florida, retirement community made up of mostly NYC Jews..maybe 80% are registered Democrats. Israelis and Eastern Euro Jews say all the time that the NYC Jews...meaning actually NE liberals, would vote for hitler if told to do so! I hear this constantly. American Jews have a lot to be ashamed of.

The ADL, like the NAACP & the ACLU, is a Fabian Socialist oriented organization. The three organizations have slightly different functions, but all have worked for the past century in tandem to undermine social tranquility in America.

The Bible says what it says, about what happened at the time of the Crucifixion. The ADL, here, is seeking to create a phoney issue that will divide Christians & Jews. There is no way that this blatant sensationalism of a passing tweet will serve any other purpose. This is simply the way Fabian Socialist organizations operate, to undermine tranquility and social cohesion to ulterior purpose--and, of course, it is how the ADL raises money to serve that ulterior purpose.

I agree. The ruling elite priesthood, the Sanhedri, had him brought before Pontius Pilate for blasphemy. They diddn’t have the power to execute convicted criminals at that point but the Romans did.

Jewish leaders saw Jesus as a threat, the Romans did not.

Jesus went to the Temple and preached directly against the Jewish leadership. When it came to the political leadership of the Romans, Jesus said "give to Caesar what is Caesar's, give to God what is God's". Jesus had shown himself to the Romans to be solely interested in changing the religious order, not the political.

It’s not threatening, it’s just wrong.

It is wrong only in that the Romans actually carried out the crucifixion. It was the leaders of the Jews that insisted on the death sentence, making them equally culpable, if not more so.

That is not a disparaging remark about the Jewish people, just a comment on the actual events that took place.

And the leaders stirred up the crowds to demand crucifixion. The crowd influenced Pilate, not a bunch of leaders.
That’s why the Democrats use mobs.

Amen not to mention that he was not actually killed as much as he was sacrificed of his own free will and he created everything from the nails that pierced his skin to the human being whom hammered them in.
