Jeb Bush’s fundraising haul was impressive. Ted Cruz’s was more important.

Jeb Bush's fundraising totals for the first half of 2015 were eye-popping: $114 million raised ($103 million of which came through his Right to Rise super PAC) with a stunning $98 million in the bank.

But, as amazing as Bush's haul was, it's Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's fundraising totals that stood out to me as the most important money number from the June reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Cruz raised $14 million through his campaign committee and another $37 million through a constellation of super PACs set up to aid his campaign. That total of $51 million raised put him second behind Bush in total fundraising over the first six months of the year -- ahead of the likes of Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and Scott Walker....

Can’t understand why anyone would send money to the Bush campaign — it will get all the money it needs from the Saudi royal family (and the Mexican government)

Cruz is also building a ground game. He’s the only candidate I’m seeing so far doing that.

With PAC’s etc involved so much now, everyone has money and totals don’t mean what they used to.

He’s tech savvy as well.

First time I’ve ever supported a presidential candidate younger than myself.

Jeb shows just how delusional and out of touch the GOPe really is.

I couldn’t imagine anyone ever saying, “Yeah, Jeb, he would be a good choice to run.”

And these clowns have already thrown $114 million at this bizarre gamble. There are too many others that would have been a good choice. Jeb isn’t one of them.

One would think the a rational Fox News formula for choosing the Top 10 for that first debate would take fund raising into account.

Did I say “rational”? Maybe that explains it.

“Take Cruz’s demonstrated fundraising ability over the first half of 2015 and couple it with his status as the most conservative candidate in the race and you have a potent mix that should scare the hell out of any of the establishment candidates with designs on the party nomination.”

Gee, it only took this WashPo analyst four months to arrive at this conclusion.

Cruz knew this race was never going to be the traditional Iowa/NH/SC fare— it’s the long haul. He’s won the money primary.

Cruz is the Grandmaster. When it comes to strategic thinking, he’s ten steps ahead of any one in the field.

Amnesty will pay off in the hundreds of billions or more, so what’s a few million each to these guys?

The thing about John Ellis Bush having $114 million dollars reminds me of the Ford Edsel, Pontiac Aztec or Chevy Vega. Those companies had much more than that in current dollars, yet they couldn’t market a dud, now could they?

Ted Cruz is the only one I've heard speak of the vast gulf between the coastal/urban progressives/moderates and flyover country. He says those blue areas are full of people who think flyover country ideals are quaint parochial views that really don't deserve any real consideration. They pay lip service at best and then ignore us.

Ah, don’t worry AC.

The Bush cartel will get away with whatever they want in return for letting the Clinton syndicate get away with whatever they want as well.

As they say: Nice work if you can get it.

JEB Bush is little more then Hillary’s path to the White House. At least we won’t have to have the White House fumigated to rid it of the dumocrat stench. She can move right in and feel at home with it. It will seem like the good old days to her.

Yes it’s obvious that she’s pledged to be Obama’s 3rd and 4th terms and reached an alliance with the Chicago Mob.

Until a few months ago, I really believed the Mob would run Warren and torpedo the Clintons. Don’t think it’s gonna happen.

A principled Conservative, using funds to get out an internally consistent and coherent Conservative message, can expect to get over 4 times the effect that a candidate endorsed by organization hacks , but avoiding the real gut issues, can expect per dollar spent. At the ration here discussed, Cruz should crush Jeb Bush in the Primaries.

It’s in his book. He is explicitly copying the Obama campaign’s approach.
