It was time for Tommy DeSimone to die.
The mobster famously portrayed by Joe Pesci in "Goodfellas" killed two made men, tried to rape the wife of his gangster pal Henry Hill and stupidly lifted his ski mask during 1978s historic $6 million Lufthansa heist.
So John Gotti took care of it personally.
The handsome capo used a silencer-equipped Colt .38 to shoot DeSimone three times in the skull in January 1979 in the basement of an Italian restaurant on Arthur Avenue in The Bronx, says an upcoming book, The Lufthansa Heist, written by Hill and journalist Daniel Simone.
Its the first time the details of Gottis role in the death of the 28-year-old psychopath have been revealed.

I have an autographed copy of Hill’s cookbook.
Wasn’t he beaten to death with baseball bats in the movie?
If you’re referring to Tommy DeVito, played by Joe Pesci in the film (real name, Tommy DeSimone), no, he was shot in the head during what he thought was going to be his Mafia induction.
Thanks
The Owl- we used to go after swing shifts.
To be honest, I didn’t go there very often, but every once in awhile, we’d go in for lunch and a drink. As far as I remember, I don’t think I ever went there at night — our company did not have a swing shift.
Regards,
PS: Do you remember the name of the Italian deli/pizzeria that was on Farmers Blvd., right near the old diner? I can’t remember its name for the life of me. I ate there A LOT — they made a great sandwich. And would run a tab for you if you wanted!
I believe that I remember the deli,but I didn’t go there.

Whatever works for you.

Yes, it was occasionally done way back then. And they recommended very low loads. No it isn’t silent, but it moderated the report significantly such that you could pop someone in a restaurant and and people in the business next door would notice, or could very easily mistake it for a dozen other things. Someone hammering, a door slam, something dropped. Etc.
Rare today, but not unheard of back then. And a backwards mafia type would be just the type to do it.
