Hate to point this out, but the President does not have, and should not have, the authority to arbitrarily fine Americans, much less foreign sovereign governments.

If we “fined” Mexico $100,000 for each of say, 8M illegal aliens, that would come to $800,000,000,000.

Which would put a big dent in our deficit.

I believe those fines would be an ongoing, future thing, and my guess is they actually could come from aid we earmark for Mexico each year—but that likely could fall under the president’s discretion. If not, there are certainly other steps that could be taken through new legislation or an amended trade deal.

The point is an incredibly valid one however—Mexico has been aiding and abetting the invasion for years, and we don’t do a thing about it. We have allowed ourselves to become global chumps.

“Which would put a big dent in our deficit.”

Actually, at current levels. it would create a surplus. But, off the top of my head, it would only put about a
4 1/2% dent in our debt.
