....”have you seen the sate of that industry? Piracy and pay to play have gutted it. It’s a subject I know very well as a musician.....Pay to play LED TO piracy. Pay to play in another guise also destroyed much of the live scene”...

Yes, and it's happening everywhere in the “shifts” occurring in how everything once worked. The Music Industry is having a hard time accepting the shifts....which is not hard to understand, they generally want 'mega' revenues to flow their way and their goal to "make it big".... no industry is so overcompensated then the Music Industry and Holly Wood...well maybe sports.

Further Holly Wood stars have always been "political" behind the scenes. The Shift that's happening of recent is their coming out of the woodwork and taking the stage. Pretty much all of them are liberals of course...that is Hollywood after all.

Could be anything really. Hard to tell what they say through all the drooling sycophancy.

The ex-Perry crew does haZ a dilemma though. Trump has no good hair or cowboy boots/glasses.

...”I find it disturbing that so many who call themselves “conservative” would throw their support behind lifelong liberal Donald Trump”...

Most are doing so with one eye open...they aren’t fools. And that’s just wise to do with any candidate that leans too far or flips. Most do, or it “appears” they do depending on how the media chooses to slant it.

Media leans on every word politicians speak so they can ‘make a story’ which requires a response from a candidate...thus carrying the “news” from one day to the next til it’s milked out. It “pays” to keep the pundits in their jobs.

I wish I could agree with yo my FRiend. But from what I have witnessed the past few weeks, I'd have to say I do not. They are 100% in the tank for this lifelong liberal and vehemently attack most who dare to question his motives. It has been strange to watch.

Trump is a breath of fresh air.  As long as he has brushed his teeth and used Listerine, the wind is good.  When it grows stale, we'll have to judge the guy harshly.

I like what I've heard him say so far.  I haven't heard him talk about lower taxes.  If he has as you say, then that's a big plus.  I have heard him talk about the need to have a premier defense.  Wow, am I glad to hear that.  You know, his desire for a strong defense is kind of a tip off topic for me.  Leftists all agree on one thing, doing away with the military.  You don't find a single Leftist talking about stronge defense.  If a guy talks about strong defense, it's a signal.  It's one we shouldn't ignore.

Has he talked about Welfare reform?  Wow.  That's amazing.  This guy actually gets it.  I know he wants to repeal Obamacare.  I heard him talk at length about it, and his priority is the public marketplace.  He want's to do away with state restrictions on insurance companies.  He thinks they should be able to compete nationally across state lines.  He's right.  He does see some government involvement, and that may be understated, but folks lets be honest with ourselves.  The government jumps in and pays hospitals today for the bills of those who can't pay.  It doesn't pay enough and that is a real strain on the hospitals, but it is happening.  If Trump can find a better less impactful way to do it, it might be a plus.  Moving as many folks onto private insurance is the way to go.  Getting more people employed with work related insurance is a great way to impact the lack of coverage for many people.

Trump does talk about the border.  I'm all for getting it clamped down tighter than a clam's ass.  What still bothers me are two things.  One, he seems to indicate the illegals here can stay.  That is dead wrong logic.  Then he talks about improving or making it easier for foreigners to enter the U. S. on a permanent basis.  How can he be so clueless as to not grasp were' swamped as it is.  Stop all imigration for a while, and particularly if you're going to let the illegal stay.  Those 30 million illegals will turn into over 250 million in under 13 years.  I know that sounds like a crazy statement, but two rounds of familial chain migration will facilitate this.  30 million bring in five family member each.  Generally once a person is here legally, they can bring other family members.  After the six year mark when they can become citizens, they for sure get to do this.  So one round in 2021 brings in 30 million times 5.  So the original 30 plus 150 equals 180 million.  The second round in 2027 brings in another wave from the now 180 million.  Think about that.  Even if I'm gaging this too high, we're talking some serious numbers form the 30 million already here.  I don't think any of these people have thought this out.

America is not here to be the promised land any longer.  While I do agree with moderate immigration, the days when we flooded the naion with all comers is long done.  The important thing today is that our nation remain cohesive, economically sound, and a mammoth force to be reconed with, if other screw with us.  That's our only obligation to ourselves and the world.  If we aren't strong, nobody is.  And if we are strong, other nations have a much better chance to be good.  We must concentrate on getting our house in order, not mopping up humans from across the planet to rescue them.  We have reached at least a temporary saturation point.  The balkanization needs to be put on hold.  NOW!

I'm very short on tolerance for "promised land" kind of talk these days.  This nation has taken a hit.  It's time to mop up our own mess before bringing more people into the mix.  We need to get our political house in order too.  This radical Leftist insurgance needs to be slapped down out of existence.  Then and only then do we move on.

Our nation started out with tarriffs as the federal governments income source.  While they do increase the cost of goods a certain extent, they can also level the playing field for nations that play trade tricks for gain.  China doesn't charge tariffs on our goods.  They just devalue their currency by about 40%, so that our merchandise is 40% more expensive in China.  We are prevented from exporting to China in any meaningful way.  This puts our workers out of work, and we can see evidence of that.  I have no problem whatsoever charging a massive tariff on Chinese goods coming into the U. S.  When China wants to compete on a level playing field, we can lower tariffs as they value their currency at a reasoned level.  This has been taking place for over 20 years, and none of our elected officials have thought it a problem enough to address it.  Further, China has quadrupled thier defense spending.  We shouldn't be doing business with it at all.  Surprisingly, their economic system is not sound.  There are some serious cracks in their economic system, and a loss of trade with the U. S. would stop dead in it's tracks the military buildup and the incrasing adventurism taking place local to China and around the world.  China would be in serious trouble if it weren't for the U. S. currency pipeline.  Turn that spiggot off.

One thing you forgot to mention.  The U. S. Federal government is give charge over two things.  They are the military and trade.  That includes tariffs.

Private enterprise was not the intended negotiator of trade.  Why should 250 companies have to negotiate trade deals with the same nation, when the federal government can negotiate one deal across the board for all of them?  What has more clout or leverage, one company or a federal government acting on behalf of hundreds or thousands of companies?  It just makes sense to let the federal government negotiate trade.  It should do it right, and it should be held accountable when it doesn't.  Right now it isn't doing it right, and it needs to be bitch-slapped hard for it.

Trump is right when he talks about good negotiators.  It goes across the board too.  Does anyone think this administration has clue one on trade, nucealear talks with Iran, or anything else?  And frankly, we can go beyond this administration to talk about NAFTA, the WTO, and Trade with China.  We've gotten screwed more often than not.  We surrender our soverignty as part of these deals.  That's wrong.  Thinking in terms of a strong defense, I think Trump probably understands sovereignty rather well.  We'll find out.

As for Obamacare, I heard him address it directly.  He wants a vibrant private sector component here.  He is not looking to go single payer like the idiots in the White House and on Capital Hill want.  And don't kid youselves, the other Republicans are just fine with allowing Obamacare to continue on forever.  He has said that he wants everyone covered, and there's where you Socialism exists.  I don't like it.  Folks, I'm not sure how many people understand this, but nobody goes without health care in this naiton.  If you present to a hospital is is required by law to give you the medical care you need.  Now it might not be top tier, but they'll stabalize you in the E. R. and or hospital bed.  Who pays for that now, if the patient can't?  The answer is, the federal government.  Do I like it?  No.  It is reality.  The idea the federal government is going to take on another 35-45 million deadbeats is true and at the same time, not exactly true.  The fact is, these 35-45 million people are already getting health care on the government dime.  (OUR DIME "Dime?" I wish)  What does concern me here, is that when people officially get something for free, they use all they can of it.  There will be a massive bill for this.

If Trump can get welfare under control, the coverage for the uninsured today may gobble up the savings.  Instead that savings should be used to pay down the national debt.  We have to think in terms of righting our ship of state before loading more cargo.  Who seems to understand this?  Nobody.  I can only hope Trump will act in a sensible way on this.  The national debt needs to be paid off.  It is critical.  We cannot go on like this.

3) Concern about the gay thing and abortions. The feds have no legitimate constitutional authority over either issue. Not sure where Trump stands on this.  I agree, and I suspect we won't like it when we hear what his thoughts are.  As for the homosexual issue, it needs to be addressed.  Congress should get on it.  No it won't.  We have no chance of Boehner or Mitchell doing anything productive on this.  As for abortions, we can face the fact that our Republican presidents even when they had Congress in thier hip pocket refused to take measures to eliminate abortion.  Trump will be no better or worse, for the most part.  That's not good, but it's not going to be any different with our other candidates.

Yes, whole departments need to be eliminated.  HHS, Education, the EPA, the BATFE, need to go.  As part of justified cost cutting measures, these departments can take it in the shorts as easily as our military can.  We actually need the military.  We don't need them.  Bye bye...

I agree with this.

So Trump’s a mixed bag (who isn’t?). People keep looking for a politician savior without realizing they, the American People, are the owners of this great and wonderful country of ours. Our faith and trust must once again turn to God and away from fickle, vacillating, and corruptible man. We must do the best we can to put the best people in office, but WE must once again OWN OUR freedom and OUR Constitution, and take whatever stands we need to on the individual state level against an unconstitutional federal government.

I’ve seen it but believe some might just be a tad obsessive on anyone they attach themselves to for the duration. Remember how some had great difficulty when Palin pulled out...far more than a disappointment and it went on for months and months.

I owe much of it to people just want someone who talks the language they want to hear, so when one steps up they get right on it like flies to honey who are starved for good food.

I’m enjoying Trump...moreso the affect he’s having on the media and the liberals....even Putin’s got his head up regarding Trump.....LOLOLOLOL.

I just love he’s pushing through the media and pundits trying so hard to flatten him. In time they’ll hit a jugular I think...and then we’ll see. So far they’re hitting Trump in the pocket and his ego...which has stood the test thus far. But if he continues as most think he will... they’ll play some hard ball soon enough. Which then reveals to us where the balls can be expected to come from.

Trumps a moving target....one they’re having difficulty hitting. But we know they can get very nasty behind the scenes.

Thoughtful reply. Don’t get a lot of those around here. Thanks.

As you say, tariffs historically are how government revenue was raised. Fair enough. But tariffs are a terrible “punishment” or “fairness” tool because it is a self-punishing tax and the American consumer is the one who is actually being punished. Wrong-headed, but looks good to most the way so many fall for minimum wage. Both tariffs and minimum wage appear like “we love you” government solutions when in fact neither one solve anything and do not attack the real economic problems of government and union interference with the economy.

I’m not sure there are any constitutional requirements for the feds with international free trade, but the federal interference needs to be kept minimal so the free market can do what it does best - create wealth. Actually, the more we trade with China, the more they are forced into a freer society.

At the same time, we absolutely need to be the strongest nation on earth in the military and in our intelligence community. Having Reagan-like crack military capability and intelligence capability actually allows us to do business with places like China without fear.
