Trumps on the right track thus far...his past simply shows the positions he will take that will best benefit his business dealings, as well as where he puts his money politically....most successful businesses work like that as well. It's simply good business to do so.... Trumps not run as a politician...and he's not running as one now...he runs as a businessman. If you loose sight of that then you miss the whole point of him running as well as misunderstand his statements.

Trumps still a Globalists, but as he said we're not getting the best deals rather we're getting screwed. I think he's sincere about America getting better deals. He's Pro-Life except depending on the life of the mother and the 'rare' circumstances which of course need to be left with the parents to make. He's for gun ownership and he opposes the immigration that's happening now....not just illegals. The list goes on....but IMO Trumps all for America and wants this country operating successfully for everybody..

Those things Trump mentions are NOT Democratic positions...they are conservative as much as one such as Trump can be.

A lot has been said about Trumps delivery and his mannerisms.....well it's going to take someone like that to put this nation on track in a hurry. To crack the whip and ignore those who stand in the way....because that's what's got us here from Obama.

I don't see him as President...but you can't tell ...the same was said of those in our History yet they stood tall in the office of President.

....”None of those things are going to matter if the moral foundations of the republic are finished off”....

Government should not be dictating Morals....those come from God. It’s up to the people themselves to be a people of faith or not. Without then “who” decides what those standards are and how to be measured? The Government certainly can’t.

Read somewhere klintonistas’/bushes’ plans: “Trump will be taken care of.”

We know how Vince Foster ended up in Marcy Park without bloodstains on his hand or the pistol. We also know what happened to Bill Gwatney, Breitbart, Hastings and others!!!

I would love to see someone explain, whether it’s trump or any other person, how paying extortion/bribes is not WHY the corporate/political cabal exists to begin with.

And why slicing your own throat, is ‘just good business’. Because ultimately it’s the definition of crony capitalism, the very thing that has destroyed our market system.

If businesses can’t get something done legally because a pol refuses to do their job without a kickback or a cash payment, then businesses should be taking them to court where possible or using that money, along with other businesses money, to buy air time and exposing it.

That would be good business because they would be preventing future issues/payments with/to corrupt pols.

That’s quite a load of pure crap packed into one post. Probably a record of some kind.

Far from sacrosanct, I repeatedly ask lesser evil types to back up their statements with facts. And to prove my statements wrong if they disagree. Because you know, that who this whole process works. If you put a statement out there on a forum, people are free to debate it, mock it or print it out and frame it.

If that’s an issue for you, maybe the whole politics discussion thing isn’t for you. On the other hand, there is a group that ‘feels’ they should speak without being questioned. We call them liberals.

Adding to a previous post, I think Trump is a breath of fresh air who speaks without script from his heart and says what he thinks regardless of political fallout. I think he genuinely loves America and wants to make America great again. If I don’t like everything he says, I love the way he says it.

I like what I hear and see in his book when he talks about:

1) Lower taxes – the key to an economic resurgence. Zero corporate tax – almost automatic economic resurgence. What does he say about individual tax rates? Not sure but they should be lowered to 10%-15% flat rate.

2) Build a strong defense. Sounds like he has a Reagan mindset here: the best, most modern, and strongest defense in the world is the best guarantee of peace. This is the feds #1 job.

3) Welfare Reform

4) Repeal Obamacare

5) Get control of our borders and stop illegal immigration while welcoming legal immigration. We are a nation of immigrants and children of immigrants. It’s what America is here for, as the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty declares.

However, so far, there’s some of what I’ve heard him say that’s questionable or contrary to those like me who love liberty and hate big, unconstitutional federal government:

1) “reach the promised land”
Like Obama and his “hope and change”, Trump hasn’t in his speeches clearly defined what he means by his vision of America’s “promised land” other than the other stuff he talks about. Don’t know if he’s clearer in the book, except, again, for the details of his proposals.

2) So far, his economic solutions seem to consist of

a) Tariffs against the bad guys, Mexico and China, which have the appearance of doing something positive for the economy, not unlike the appearances accompanying minimum wage. Tariffs are a tax that raise revenue for the feds and artificially raise prices to the American consumer. They are a form of government price control (this time HIGHER prices) and, like minimum wage, are a phony solution which doesn’t attack the REAL problem of government and union interference in our economy.

b) Wants “smart negotiators making economic deals.” Apparently he wants government to negotiate trade deals instead of private business on the free market. More socialist interference with the free market.

c) Wants to repeal Obamacare and replace it with...what…? Well, he basically told us when he said, “We (government) will help everyone.” More socialism and socialized medicine in some other form. (By the way, the voluntary cooperation of the free market economy is the clear solution to all of these economic issues. The market economy free of government interference is what made America wealthy, HEALTHY, and powerful. Government, as usual, is not the solution, it is the problem.)

3) Concern about the gay thing and abortions. The feds have no legitimate constitutional authority over either issue. Not sure where Trump stands on this.

4) Continuing concern about the overall tolerance and acquiesce to the huge portion of the federal government that is not constitutionally legitimate including most cabinet posts and administrative departments, one of the worst being the $1 trillion HHS. Unconstitutional federal government needs dismantling. This is really the #1 political issue in our country.

So far, you’ve got a guy who’s attacking illegal immigration and the corrupt MSM head-on without flinching. Gotta love it. But socialism as Hayek said, is the Road to Serfdom, not to the “promised land” most of us envision.

So Trump’s a mixed bag (who isn’t?). People keep looking for a politician savior without realizing they, the American People, are the owners of this great and wonderful country of ours. Our faith and trust must once again turn to God and away from fickle, vacillating, and corruptible man. We must do the best we can to put the best people in office, but WE must once again OWN OUR freedom and OUR Constitution, and take whatever stands we need to on the individual state level against an unconstitutional federal government.

Even his die hard supporters admit that. That's how they explain his generous contributions to far-left kooks like Wiener, Schumer, Reid, Pelosi and others; he was supposedly looking out for his business interests.

That was also the explanation given for his hiring militant flaming homo Perez Hilton to judge the miss USA pageant; he was pandering to his gay audience. Again, Trump looking out for Trump.

I already had one today use the ‘it’s just business’ excuse.

Think about this folks...

Barry’s team does pay for play and it’s 100% evil and the worst thing EVAH! and the core peoblem to business in a free market economy as it corrupts the entire process.

Trump does it and it’s just business.

I just realized that Barry won because half of conservatism and especially FR, literally has the mentality of a fainting Obamabot at ‘The Pillars of Ascension”.

Many are no different in their worship of this liberal than Barry's supporters are in their worship of him. Sad as that may be, it is what it is.

You call it bribes..others call it the price of doing business....and “the corporate/political cabal” as you call it has always been a part of the political climate at all levels.

You seem to want to make right all the perceived wrongs in the business and political world. By ‘what measure’ do you determine what’s good business?

There are many who attempt, and some succeed, in making wrongs right...but on the whole the entire country, from politics to medicine, to education etc...where ever there are revenue flows you will surely find corruption of one sort or another.....you do pay to play as is said.

You can go all the way back to school years and see this playing out in classrooms as well....money matters...yes it’s a “tool” but the more excess one has the more influence in areas of interest.

Trump well knows the game...and the players in the game....and likely knows who has the revenues...which equals power to influence and for Trump that’s an advantage he can use for whatever he chooses, keeping in mind the world he plays in does likewise.

Because I have enough sense to realize that paying to play is bad business if you are a musician, a record company or a pol/hotel real estate guy.

Because it’s still extortion/bribery.

Because crime is never good business

Because some people let drooling sycophancy overrule common sense to elect TV reality stars and call it conservative.

I take it you have no issue with DeBlazio extorting conservatives in NYC for cash to get their plans approved then? Or the ballerina in Chicago?

Same thing isn’t it? Is that good business?

...”Many are no different in their worship of this liberal (Trump?) than Barry's supporters are in their worship of him”...

I don't agree that Trump supporters worship him....they simply are enjoying fully his expressing what they want to hear and which few if any in the political climate do so with such gusto.

People are very much passionate about the election ahead...they want to hear such passion in their preferred candidate regardless of how that's expressed. Trump gives them that and even those not supporting Trump are saying he's on the mark.

Further...I do not agree with your statement that “ESPECIALLY” Free Republic literally has the mentality of a fainting Obamabot at the “Pillars of Ascension.”

Freepers ride the waves of a Presidential run....they know perfectly well how to discern and make a judgment call on the politician of their choosing....but know that these candidates aren't even all at the gate yet......we can and do enjoy those who speak as we like to hear even if we might have another candidate preferred.

I for one am thoroughly enjoying Trump....and frankly so are the other candidates, except perhaps Jeb for obvious reasons.

The obamabot pillar post was mine and yes many on FR are exactly doing that on Trump threads discounting any and every bit of his liberal history to praise him as the savior of America.

Just as they did with Romney. And created the mess we have in so doing with Bhoner and Mitch and... Romney now as kingmaker and ‘elder statesman’ for the GOP....all of which back barry and impede any attempt to thwart his ECs. Or jail his Lerners.

Every day I come closer to thinking libs were right about ‘conservatives’ being morons. I mean there are indeed few of us that don’t fit that description. Just look at this thread.

Stupid cannot be cured.
