We Sons of Confederate Veterans are charged with preserving the good name of the Confederate soldier. The world, for the most part, has acknowledged what Gen. R. E. Lee described in his farewell address as the valour and devotion and unsurpassed courage and fortitude of the Confederate soldier. The Stephen D. Lee Institute program is dedicated to that part of our duty that charges us not only to honour the Confederate soldier but to vindicate the cause for which he fought. We are here to make the case not only for the Confederate soldier but for his cause. It is useless to proclaim the courage, skill, and sacrifice of the Confederate soldier while permitting him to be guilty of a bad cause.
Although their cause was lost it was a good cause and still has a lot to teach the world today.
In this age of Political Correctness there has never been a greater need and greater opportunity to refresh our understanding of what happened in America in the years 18611865 and start defending our Southern forebears as strongly as they ought to be defended. There is plenty of true history available to us. It is our job to make it known.

In the future, our grandchildren will be told the story of how the Caliph saved the world from a Confederate Soldier named Hitler.
Good post.
Dagnabbit! Dat dern South will rize again and defeat the bloody army of de North and dat dictator Lincern!
Great read. Thanks for posting.
Screw the central government authoritarians.
Both sides deserve to be “screwed” for different reasons. If you were honest you’d acknowledge this fact.
The “Lost Cause” view of the Civil War was thought up AFTER the war was lost and over. It began to spread along with the KKK and its nasty roots.
I salute the soldiers who fought for their homes and their states. Those who were not the elite slave holders of the Confederacy who stated even in the founding documents that the CSA and the war were about slavery and nothing more.
Do not kid yourself, the idea that this was about ‘state’s rights’ came long after the fighting was over.
Remember too that Lincoln when told of the surrender at Appomattax ordered the Marine band to strike up Dixie.
“With malice toward none, with charity for all.....”
The South wanted the right to be able to export their cotton to England, France and other places without it going to the New England textile Mills whom shipped cotton to other places and profited as the middleman.
When the Civil war started the south had no manufacturing ability to produce its own munitions. The south built many of its own munition factories in and around Richmond Virginia - Traflagar Iron Works
Oddly enough the graduates of West Point - the majority were from the south. Robert E. Lee was a Union Officer, he gave up his command to go back to his home - Washington and Lee - With the Civil War Lee’s home was seized by the Union and become what is today - Arlington Cemetery - a honor for soldiers whom served in the duty to country. The Union meant the Cemetery as an affront to Lee, but lee took it as am honor.
Will w see that Arlington cemetery , Washington and Lee University, the Virginia Military Institute become things of the pas to because they honored the Southern Cause of economic resistance to continue on in their way of life. If Slavery is really the issue - what about the families in the North that maintained slaves.
Be prepared for the racist to cry that the American Flag, washingtomn, Jefferson and many other founding fathers be stripped of being a Founding Father. In America are we prepared for Benjamin Franklin to be stripped of what good he did for America?
+1
For a section of the country that supposedly fought a war to free slaves the north certainly hasn’t been very hospitable over the years.
Those who seceded told us why they were seceding.

“Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which Induce and Justify the Secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union”
Actually the idea of linking states rights to slavery started with James Madison during Washington’s first term as President.
Quakers had delivered an anti-slavery petition to Congress, again.
The tone of the anti-South attacks of Lincoln’s alleged admirers on everything Confederate(especially Confederate grave sites by these petty little minds)sure sound like malice to me.
Seems like the Democrat Party lost the election of 1860 and then tried to destroy the country in one swell foop. Seems like they’ve been continuing the effort by other means ever since.
Are we supposed to be allies of the Democrat Party now?
What victory would that be general?
The CBF is folded an taken down at the wishes of Gov. Haley. This must have run a trill up your leg. I am sure you watched this abomination on MSNBC.
