Curiously, the Pope's attitude toward capitalism parallels George Soros'.
One thing is evident fro Soros' writings: he is convinced that capitalism is evil. Specifically, it can be used by conscienceless practitioners as a tool to destroy people and institutions. And what he claims is true -- capitalism can be used to further nefarious ends.
However, Soros is one of those people without a conscience -- and he assumes that everybody is just like him.
But that's not UNFETTERED capitalism - that's VERY FETTERED capitalism, or crony capitalism - which is the opposite of real free market economics. That's why I like the term free markets much better. Evil people will take advantage of every system out there, period. It's the problem of evil, NOT the system.
