Thats not a really good definition of totalitarianism. Look at it this way:
Authoritarians want control.
Totalitarians want control AND your conversion to their beliefs.
Authoritarians will always turn into the likes of Mao, Stalin and Hitler (Totalitarians) once they attain near absolute power.
The ultimate goal of the evil left is to literally exterminate Conservatives.
