Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday said the nation owes an apology for slavery.
“As a nation — I don’t think as a president, but as a nation — we have got to apologize for slavery,” the 2016 Democratic presidential contender told host Joe Madison on Sirius XM’s “The Black Eagle.”
“As a nation we have got to apologize for slavery, and of course the president is the leader of the nation,” he added.
Sanders said that slavery had caused too much suffering to remain unaddressed.
“Obviously nobody in this generation was involved in slavery,” Sanders said.

America should deem the Democrat Party to be a criminal organization and shut it down. Its assets should be seized to pay reparations to every black person who can prove his or her ancestors were held as slaves.
That being done, the issue of reparations should be deemed forever moot.

Since Sanders is so concerned about slavery which ended about 150 years ago, he might address ‘white slavery’ which is going on daily in this nation and overseas.
In addressing ‘white slavery’ he would also need to address the open border which encourages the drug and white slavery trades.
Instead of just coming up with soundbites for the evening news, Sanders might be taken more seriously when he begins to address ‘real’ issues.

Ok. I’m sorry if you are still allowing a custom that hasn’t existed in this country for 150 years to be the central focus of your life.
It will help if the "problem" is that the country hasn't yet collapsed into an economic meltdown, ripe for revolution.
Open and read your history books Red Bernie. Slavery has always existed. It exists today. Islamic slavers oppress Africans in Sudan, and they steal girls in Nigeria. Apologize for letting them exist - if you want to apologize about something.
And the biggest slave-maker of them all is our Federal Government. Granted, at this point it is a 'gentle slavery' - but they tighten the chains every year.
I apologize for nothing to do with slavery that existed in the United States 150 years ago. Yes, it was/is evil - but it was the standard of the day, and had been so for several thousand years. The fact that it has not been completely stamped out today, or that we are allowing new chains to be forged by the Feds, perhaps merits an apology - but not for things that were done in the past by people living in a different time.
