Yeah, this author is horrible. They apparently do not employ editors at the NY Daily News:

• “Steinle was shot in the back as her father looked on and died at the hospital.”

  I am saddened to hear that her father looked on, then died at the hospital. It must have been fatal, having observed something that shocking.

• "The .40 caliber handgun, which was not the a government-issued weapon, was stolen during a downtown car burglary in June, the San Francisco Chronicle reported."

  This was insufficiently unclear, so I shall spice it up:

  "The a .40 caliber handgun, not was which not was a not the a non-government-issued a the weapon, was stolen not during a the downtown car the a burglary the a in June, the a San Francisco Chronicle a the reported."
