A novel virus from Peru and the Republic of Congo called enterovirus C105 is now suspected in last year's wave of mysterious cases of sudden childhood paralysis.
Initially, enterovirus D68, the respiratory virus that took the lives of 12 children in the US last year, was the main suspect in these polio-like illnesses, involving at least 118 children, including a cluster of cases in Denver, CO and another in Syracuse, NY.
But soon researchers admitted they were stumped. In the fall of 2014, the CDC asked clinicians to report all such pediatric paralysis cases.
Today, disease detectives at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlotttesville, VA, said they may have broken the case.

Just a bunch of illegals doing what they do best, spreading disease
Makes homeschooling more attractive.
I bet Savage talked about this today.
"Spread globally" - Which, IMO, takes us right back to the third world invasion from central America, carefully orchestrated by Obola and his band of America haters.
Another thing the illegals have blessed us with.
The fact that EV-C105 may be causing childhood paralysis does not mean that EV-D68 is completely blameless. These enteroviruses are all very similar to polio and cause very similar diseases.
The illegal invader aliens come here as an “act of love” according to jebbie. They just love to spread their third-world diseases.

Ah, yes. Stephanie Miner, reputed mayor of Syracuse, NY. If memory serves, she very publically welcomed dozens, if not hundreds, of the Central American ‘unaccompanied’ illegals awaiting deportation. She actually wrote 0bama a letter asking him to use Syracuse for this purpose.
Despite objections from the electorate. Despite the fact that neither Syracuse nor New York State is in a financial position to take on the known and especially unknown costs of subjecting their citizens to unplanned social and health hazards.
But Stephanie would have none of it.
Maybe the parents of the paralyzed children will seek compensation for medical costs, pain, and suffering from Stephanie’s personal bank account. I’m sure there are some lawyers who won’t mind making those responsible pay.
Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......
(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
The Boehner-Obama Virus of Death.
Enterovirus ping....
Thanks Joe
The Congo and Peru ,, just screams out Jeb!’s “Act’s of Love” to me ..
Thanks for the ping (TFTP).
All the FReepers that chastised those of us who blamed the sickness on illegals can go pound sand.
Last Fall, a couple weeks into the public school year here (I’m talking end of August) a “bug” went thru my sons HS. About 15%of the HS population was out with it. Teens got over it quicker; some teachers were out over a week. My (then) 17 year old, varsity athlete son got it, missed three days, but dragged him down for a couple weeks. He had sudden stamina issues.
I got it too. The most brutal headache I think I have ever had; sudden high fever; quick, deep upper chest congestion and weakness like I’ve never had before. I literally slept ALL DAY. It took me weeks to feel I could lift my arms to carry things. I FReeped and compared symptoms w/others here. And for the record, I know my zip code (and school system) received some of the illegals.
A vicious virus swept though Colorado adults last March-April, just a few months after a mysterious virus killed and paralyzed dozens of children in the state. None of these viruses were influenza.
My wife and I got it, and we knew dozens of others who had it as well. Everyone was EXTREMELY ill. We were acutely ill for at least two weeks and took over six weeks to fully recover. The part that really freaked us out is that at one point we both developed distinct lower quadrant weakness for a while.
The virus started as a URI but went down into the lungs and then opportunist bacterial infections developed. This was the course for most of the people we know who were sick. We both went to the local urgent care clinic, where they are extremely aware of the type of illnesses in the community, and we were instantly prescribed antibiotics to knock out the bacterial infections. I forget what we were prescribed, but it wasn’t zithromax because the docs said that wouldn’t work on this, and they were smart enough to give antibiotics that would work rather than something like amoxicillin just to make you go away.
Kinda like an invasive species.
