"..."They're going to say, 'Well, you can't regulate stupidity' ... and it's true, you can't. But the fact of the matter is you have to try something,"..."

I got an idea. Here, hold my beer....
Obviously, bad genes don’t fall far from the tree.
Laws can’t fix stupid. She should look in the mirror and ask if it was genetic or something she did/didn’t do that led to her son’s idiotic death.
Stupid is, as Stupid does.
The "root cause" (Lieberals love to talk about "root causes") of most of the evil in the world is the idea that we have to "do something" to control things over which man has no control.
She is absolutely correct - there should be more rules, they are very lax.
So, what’s her excuse for not having them? She would be the one to make them, she would be the one to teach them, she would be the one to enforce them.
And, oh... BTW, as for new laws, forgeddaboutit.
If we all were mandated to wear coneheads, people could not then set explosives on their heads!
We have house rules that specifically say no one may light fireworks on a head.
Staples's brother Cody told the Daily News of New York that he was a few feet away when his brother lit the firework and was the first to come to his side after it exploded.Mom, your son screwed up. Most of us got away with doing dumb stuff in our youth. Your son didn't. Sorry, but that's the way it works."There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there," said 25-year-old Cody Staples, who called it an accident.
No. I'm sorry your dumb-**s son did something stupid that got him killed, but that is on him and his poor choices. Do you think he needed a rule or warning label to know that large fireworks are dangerous? Well, did he need to be warned knives are sharp, stoves are hot, don't drink the drain cleaner...???
This urge to "try something" is extremely dangerous. Far, far more dangerous that putting explosives on your head. It is exactly that kind of "do/try something" thinking that leads to ineffective, onerous, freedom-robbing laws. People with that mindset are all too easily swayed by so-called "leaders" with an agenda and a ready manipulation strategy.
Has anybody bought a ladder recently? Literally covered with warning stickers. Each probably representing something really, really stupid done by someone who then sued the manufacturer.
Here’s the problem. Does anybody seriously think everybody will carefully read and follow the directions on each of those stickers? Each additional sticker reduces exponentially the value of those already present.
I might read and follow one or two. But I’m just going to ignore 15.
Which means at some point warning labels become simply a form of “safety theater,” much as airport security is “security theater.”
That was my first thought...
Pick any leftist cause from salt, sugar, tobacco and meat to guns, women, sex and fast cars. A core leftist is a terribly unhappy sort.
Let nature run its course, the stupid will not pollute the gene pool.
That is the liberal mindset. Impose a regime of rules and regulations so that even those who possess the IQ of a cucumber will be “safe”.
Like the “rules” would have made a difference.
Sorry, Mom.
This post is useless without pictures. Can’t we get a picture of the victim? Maybe a video? - after all, the mother of the victim said we have to do “something”
Warning. Don’t be a dumbass and shoot these off your head.
