I live two blocks from Mundelein, and I don’t like Mayor Lentz, since he’s fiscally liberal. He supports giving $100,000 to businesses who promise to do renovations to their buildings. I think no government should give money to a business without receiving a product or service.

I believe the idea behind the program is to vitalize the economy, bringing in new businesses (which will bring new tax revenue). I rather agree it’s not the place of government to do that, but it’s done, a lot, and might pay off sometimes.

In any case, to me, his bold speech, which I don’t hear any other Mayors in IL echoing, easily outweighs his advocacy of a kind of program that most mayors in the state probably advocate. So from what I know about him, I like him.
