Chris Christie: ‘I don’t need to be lectured by Ted Cruz’ on GOP Attacks
Dallas Morning News ^ | 7/5/15 | Sylvan Lane

Republican presidential candidate New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday that Sen. Ted Cruz has no right to tell Republicans to stop attacking each other.

“I find it ironic that Ted Cruz is giving lectures on Republican-on-Republican violence,” said Christie on Fox News. “I mean with all due respect, I don’t need to be lectured by Ted Cruz.”

Christie called Cruz “hypocritical” for saying he refuses to attack Republicans even though he worked with the Senate Conservatives Fund. In the 2014 midterm elections, the political action committee supported primary challengers to incumbent Republicans they deemed to be too moderate.

Christie said he took issue with SCF’s targeting of Tennessee’s Sen. Lamar Alexander, whom he said he admires.

Cruz told his Republican colleagues in 2014 that he wouldn’t participate in SCF’s efforts to kick them out of their seats, according to Politico, and did not get involved in incumbents’ primary races.

The SCF never directly endorsed or raised funds Alexander’s primary opponent, state Rep. Joe Carr, but ran ads in 2013 criticizing his vote in favor of a budget resolution that funded Obamacare, according to The Hill.

“Governor Christie is a good man and we appreciate his taking the time to point out Senator Cruz’s unceasing efforts to help get more conservatives elected to Congress,” said Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier in an email.

Christie’s comments came when he was asked about Donald Trump’s claim that most Mexican immigrants were rapists or drug-smugglers, and Cruz’s defense of Trump’s “bold, brash” way of speaking.

Other Republican presidential candidates, including Christie and former Texas Gov, Rick Perry, condemned Trump’s comments.

Cruz praised Trump for drawing attention to illegal immigration and said he refuses to commit “Republican-on-Republican violence.”

“It seems the favorite sport of the Washington media is to encourage some Republicans

I was just getting ready to beg someone to put up the poster boy RINO pic. What a loser! Why is he wasting other people’s money.

Blowhard without a cause.

This is what happens when a complete novice like Trump gets thrust into the race, a lot of whining and squealing.

Christie looks to be the novice who is going nowhere in his Pres run.

LOL! Christie is grasping, again.

As for Cruz, he’s got a first rate come-back machine, doesn’t he? What a war room! I am really psyched about the steady as she goes, or the evenness, whatever you want to call it, of the Cruz campaign.

To me Cruz is projecting calm and assurance, steady confidence and easy command. I’m comforted. :)

Hey Rita— he does seem more at ease recently. The trade thing put him at odds with his base— but the SC rulings, his book and Trump doing the dirty work of outing the “Rino’s”, seems to have put him back on message. The “Washington Cartel” theme is his comfort zone.

There are some very frequent posters here who I know are well liked by many. I also know they happen to be obese. I can only imagine how thoughtless they must feel others here are when they read such things. Feel free to continue with the fat jokes. Just know you are hurting other FReepers when you do.
