But after a parent in Georgia discovered his daughter strapped in to the chair for a dental visit, many are questioning the dentists’s decision to use physical restraints on the little girl.

As WSB-TV reports, James Crow had taken his five-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, to the dentist to have a front tooth removed when he made the disturbing discovery.

Dentists welcomed me or dad into the room with our children. We calmed them down. WE were there when the dentist told our children exactly what was going to happen and we assured our children it was something everyone has to do and is alright.

This is so freakin’ weird. Something you would expect in a communist nation.

My dentist requests (demands actually) that an adult come with the child. Same with our eye doctor.

I can get my little girl calmed done faster than he can.

Which is why they use physical restraints. Its far easier for the dentist.

But safer for the child?

My son could not keep himself still during any medical procedure. Some kids are unable to be still. However, I was always present.

Along the same lines, we live in a malaria area. So, to test for it, we prick ourselves, prepare a blood smear on a glass slide and take that to a lab for diagnosis. Except, my son could not stay still for me, or his dad, or anyone, to get a blood sample.

What to do? Malaria, if untreated, kills you. We had to have it diagnosed.

We decided that we would wait until our son was asleep. Then, while he was asleep, we would stick the finger or toe which was easiest to access. The son would always know prior to sleeping that this was to happen.

You can imagine the screaming which would occur after the stick! I remember so many times, trying now to hang onto finger or toe in order to get two drops of blood. The kid is yelling now and I am, too. "JT, it's been done already. Hold still! It's over! Let me get the blood."

Not fun at the time. Hilarious now.

Seems it has the potential to cause significant trauma to the child.

I remember as a kid I was fighting the dentist one time. He used the gas but really it was just his abysmal manner which caused it.

Once again Joe gives us insight with his images.

Observe the photo of that family and the living room. There are all sorts of clues that scream “trailer trash”. Looks like dad is a Bucs fan.

My theory is the family is low class and uneducated and thus did not understand the medical necessity of the restraints, and of course are looking for a payday.

Interior decorating aside, is that a door to nowhere in the upper right? Maybe my angle/old eyes...but it looks odd.

The flag is a ‘Buccaneers’ flag and the photo has been reversed as well as squashed to make the parents look like gnomes.

Or any medical personnel. Why do you think old women in nursing homes are prime targets of rape. NO SUPERVISION.

When my boys had their first hair cuts they sat in my lap. After that there was no more issues with the barber who then just used a booster seat, but they knew I was sitting just a few feet away.

Not once when my boys were growing up did I NOT go into the office of any medical personnel or the ER. And we had a few of those. When the youngest had to be hospitalized still in diapers for breathing issues I stayed with him round the clock.

I won’t go to a Physical Therapist because of the damage the did to my spine because they were to aggressive.

I do it for my husband too as he is 76. Wipe all items he would touch down with Clorox Bleach Wipes. To many bad viruses found in hospitals today. Staff, MERS, Norwalk, etc.

Great point to bring up! People are not taught this stuff. It may not just be juice or a sugary drink, formulas are to high in sugar too. I think that may be why we are seeing so many infants being put of PPI’s so very young. Refined Sugar or Fructose is NOT your friend.

My 7th grade educated mother allowed my 2 youngest siblings to suck a bottle until they were 5. They’d walk around with that bottle stuck hanging out of their mouths clamped in their teeth just for the comfort it gave. Brother had the bad front teeth from this practice.

Pacifiers fall in the same category.

I weaned totally at 1 yr, started sippy cups at 6 months for the most part. Guess I was starting the weaning even that early when you look back. And I brushed their teeth as they came in.
