Just stop with the 11 million. It’s probably 30 million.
Todd was trying to corner Cruz and Cruz wouldn’t let him.
Headline is BS ... he did give a very clear answer.
Chuckie Todd was taken to school by Senator Cruz.
Todd learned from the man a million times smarter, that he will only answer suitable questions.
“My view is first we secure the borders and solve the problem of illegal immigration and then I think we can have a conversation about what to do with the people who remain here,
That is code for AMNESTY. (As I have stated before)
Chuck Todd wasn’t interested in Cruz’s positions on immigration, all he wanted to do was go straight to the future issue, the most divisive portion, to keep from talking about today’s stage of the immigration problem, which is, first stop the flow.
Todd and the left want to block the first step, which is, cut off illegal immigration with the fence, and an end to all this Obama stuff, and they do that by always wanting to focus on the later debate, the emotion laden debate, of how to handle the illegals already here.
Cruz did great, let’s build this wall, and then we will discuss what comes next.
Boo-hoo. Todd never gets an answer to his ‘gotcha’ question.
Watched this. Katie failed. Chuck failed. Both are in big trouble with the folks in the Democrat war room just off camera who kept yelling “keep hammering him on the 11 million.
Real headline: Chuck Todd Fails DNC/NBC Executives - Unable to Corner Cruz in Gotcha Journalism Attempt.
Chuck needs to interrogate Mexico’s Preezy and find out when Mexico is going to straighten up.
Cruz handled it beautifully...as he always does.
Reminds me of the Cruz / Katie Couric interview. Every time he began to give a cogent response to her question, she’d cut him off mid-sentence and claim he wasn’t answering it, when in fact he wasn’t answering it the way she liked.
The answer is simple:
1. As new criminals are apprehended crossing the border or already in our country illegally, give them immediate deportation hearings with full due process. If they have not applied for refugee status or political asylum, the presumption should be that they have no lawful claim to either. Deport all illegals who are apprehended before the end of the next work day, unless they are able to convince a skeptical court otherwise.
2. For illegals who have an official ID with an address, check that address for them. If they are there, arrest them. If they are not living at that address, then they have lied on an official document. Flag their ID and arrest them the next time they use it. Either way, deport them after a fair hearing.
3. Offer a bounty on illegals. If someone reports an illegal, the illegal’s assets will be confiscated up to the cost of deportation, plus a reasonable bounty for the crime-stopper who assisted with the rule of law. The remaining assets will be sent to the illegal’s home government to be disbursed at their discretion. See how many criminals go home quickly because they don’t trust their own government with their money and want to take it home themselves.
4. Vigorous employment law enforcement: If you have employees working below minimum wage for that job, or if you have a contractor charging less than minimum wage to provide workers, you know or should know that the law is being broken. Employers collaborating in that crime should be charged as much as current law permits.
5. In any case, illegals should be fingerprinted, photographed, DNA swabbed (both ID and criminal investigation), and retina scanned, to make sure they can never reenter legally and never access any path to citizenship.
I imagine once the criminals discover that there is no profit in being here illegally and that there is a permanent penalty, the vast majority will self-deport. I’m okay with that.
Not my favorite answer of his, I give him an 8.
In case the Senators team is lurking...
First Priority is to secure the border (he got that part right).
Second Priority is to return violent felons to their homelands. Call them category A.
Third Priority is to return other felons. Call them category B.
Fourth Priority is to deal with illegals who are not actively employed or otherwise contributing who’s only crime is illegal entry. Cat C.
Fifth Priority is illegals who positively contribute, but are still, in the end, here illegally. Cat D.
There should be no path to residence for Cat A and B, and their home nations should be made responsible for either accepting their return or having the cost of their continued incarceration deducted from their foreign aid.
Cat C people will be at risk of return . That is their incentive to contribute and move into Cat D.
Cat D illegal immigrants are where there is room to have a decent discussion. People who work hard, follow local laws, pay taxes, and therefore contribute to society. There should in no case be any advantage of either finance or time to those who entered without following the law.
It should be noted that these are priorities, not sequential steps. We are a versatile nation, we can handle doing several things at once. But a significantly greater portion of time, effort, and funds should be applied to the higher priorities.
Also, it should be noted that none of these priorities are specific to any ethnic, religious, or national group. Application of policy may differ simply because different home nations will react differently. I imagine that Australia or Japan would handle the return of a felon differently than would Costa Rica which would be different than Egypt.
Some might resist, and those resisting could simply get an invoice detailing how we are deducting our direct costs from their quarterly foreign aid payments. Place a burden on these governments and make them financially incentivized to uphold their end of the program.
He supports granting them legal status, just not citizenship.
He supports letting them all stay.

I would have a LOT more respect for him if he's just come clean.
All Cruz has to say is that they all didn’t get here in one day and it will take more than one day to help them return to their motherland where they can work to make those countries better places for their beautiful cultures.
or he could just say GET THE FKOUT
But then of course, if you don’t have control over your borders they will just come back in again.
Still just answer the question with a plain YES THE MUST GO BACK TO THEIR MOTHERLAND......HOW? oh one million a year, using hi tech IRS/NSA/ methods of identifying....anyone committing a crime would be jailed indefinitely till border control was attained....(I BET THAT WOULD SPEED UP THE BUILDING OF THE FENCE)
It isn't a real hard question to answer.
