Dark Money group threatens Dems on opposing Iran nuclear deal (the Chicago way!)

Even as the contours of the nuclear deal with Iran remain unknown (though a total cave in is strongly suspected), a progressive “Dark Money” group, whose donors’ identities are hidden, is threatening Democrats who might oppose the deal to keep their mouths shut and vote with the administration. Adam Kredo reports in the Washington Free Beacon:

A prominent progressive organization linked to the White House and claiming to work for dozens of like-minded groups is threatening to attack any congressional Democrat who objects to a final nuclear deal with Iran, even before the terms of any such agreement have been finalized, according to an email obtained by the Free Beacon.

CREDO Action, the political arm of CREDO Mobile, declared this week in an secret email to journalists that it will punish congressional Democrats who fail to line up behind any deal sealed between the West and Iran.

“Democrats in Congress are the only remaining obstacle to finalizing today’s historic deal,” Zack Malitz, campaign manager for CREDO, said in a statement emailed to reporters on July 2, along with a note that details of the email were not to be published until a deal was actually announced. “Every Democrat should go on the record right now in support of the deal, and pledge to defend it from attacks in Congress.”

“Republicans will try to sabotage the deal and take us to war, but they can’t do it without Democratic votes,” Matlz wrote. “Progressives will hold accountable those Democrats who vote to help Republicans sabotage the deal and start a war.”

This “deal” will no doubt cause serious divisions within the Democratic Party. Those Democrats that support Israel ( now a minority within the Democratic Party) and previously generous financial supporters of the Party will be alienated in a significant manner. The “deal” is nothing more than a fig leaf to give some political cover to democrats who will once again be called to rally to Obama. Obama has decided to acquiesce to the Iranians obtaining nuclear weapons. He has concluded that they have a legitimate need for the weapons for defensive purposes. If Iran had been nuclear armed they would have never suffered the huge conventional invasion from Sunni Iraq and suffered over 900,000 casualties. Despite the bizarre theocratic nature of the mullahs’ regime and the apocalyptic threats, Obama does not view a nuclear Iran as a real threat to Israel or the United States. Obama’s legacy will be that he will leave Iran’s nuclear infrastructure intact, functional and unmolested. He will never take military action against Iran.

History will judge Obama at best as an anti Zionist. Yet his policies are not occurring in a social or political vacuum. Changing demographics, a woeful ignorance of history in general and the Holocaust in particular, and pervasive historical revisionism have lessened considerably what was once solid support for Israel in the US and EU. Still despite this “deal” and all the fanfare that will accompany it, Israel and its new found Saudi friends will come to deal with this existential Iranian threat in a definitive manner.
