Trump calls out Rubio for being ‘weak’ on immigration, praises Cruz

Donald Trump said fellow Republican presidential nominee Marco Rubio is “weak” on immigration, as the real estate mogul on Saturday continued to defend his controversial remarks on the subject in an interview on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.”

“There’s tremendous crime and illegal immigration is just incredible. As far as Rubio, he’s very weak on immigration,” he said in the phone interview. “You know, I have great relations with Mexico and I love the Mexican people, and the spirit of the Mexican people. These are people just pouring across the border.”

In the past, Rubio, a Cuban-American, has said he supports a pathway to citizenship for the 10 million undocumented immigrants, but said only if the border is first secured, the U.S. government addresses the growing number of undocumented immigrant workers and also limits visa overstays.

Trump said he does, however, respect one contender for his stance on immigration.

“I respect Ted Cruz for the view he’s got. He was really out there and strong on it. I shouldn’t say this because, I assume, he’s an opponent, but the fact is he was very brave in coming out,” Trump said....

So if he drops out later he endorses Cruz and helps fund him?

So here is our answer. Trump the Chump. Disruptor. Not turning the enemies flank but turning on GOP candidates.

It wouldn't be too surprising to see a Trump/Cruz ticket a year from now. They're becoming very complementary of each other.

They should announce their cabinet, as well, if that happens.

Donald just keeps speaking truth, doesn’t care where it lands.

Could be.

I hope Cruz and Trump tag team the rest of the clowns in the debates.
Cruz is a master debater and Trump will add the fireworks.

Have you not been paying attention? Dang, maybe you could actually read what the GOP has been saying about him, with the exception of Cruz.

Will he turn the flank? Will he drag the LIV back through the media blackout on the crime family foundation, emails, Benghazi, fast and furious, yes, and whitewater, 900 FBI files. Drag the Media’s brown nose through 40 years of malpractice? Will he? My guess is no. He is not serious. He stumbled into this and his ego responded and without realizing it, like Perot, he opened up something he really did NOT want.

I’m liking Trump and Cruz more and more, and not caring much for any of the others. Four or eight years of Trump/Cruz and then eight years of Cruz/? would be the best thing that could happen. Trump could be the unabashed salesmen and Cruz keep it all on sound constitutional grounds.

No problemo as far as I'm concerned. Cruz, and possibly Fiorina, are the only two out there besides Trump who are forcefully arguing for ANY conservative position.

I hope Trump takes out Jeb, Rand, Huckleberry, Walker, and Christie. The survivors would at least have some conservative positions.

They overlap in terms of support too much, I think, to be on the same ticket.

We shall see. Is he a General like Patton, who recognizes that rare intersection of chance and fate? Who knows who he is and knows his enemy? IMHO, and I recognize my limitations, but it is as obvious to me as day. There, as Lee said, is the enemy. The Rat media complex. What do you intend to do?

Trump has hurt them bad. Does he follow on with blow after blow or fail? If he was serious he could drag the kicking and squealing media back to rub there noses in every pile like a dog that shit in the house. Will he? I say no because his REAL goal has never been the presidency and his real care is not so much America as he would want us to believe. He stands in a breach in the ENEMYLINE that he created with an Army of Tea Party ready to pour in after him and his next step is attack Rubio? Really?

Whoever ends up on the Republican ticket, they'll still be fighting to win in the same crucial states: Florida, Ohio, Virginia and a few others. Most states will still be firmly in the Republican or Dim column from the start.

I think the issues will determine the winner, and Trump and Cruz are raising more of the right issues than all the others combined.

I don't think so. They appeal to tradition-oriented dems who've lost about everything they believe in these past eight years. They'll bring in non-voters and independents. One of the dwarfs who spouts the company line would only alienate people.

The elitist backstabbing Chamber of Commerce types who treat us as voting fodder? I'd rather have Trump/Cruz then let them anywhere near the WH.

Trump would never be anyone’s VP even if they wanted him, but I can envision Trump picking Cruz as his running mate, if he were to get the nomination.
