It is sad that we are now witnessing the same decline of Western Civilization in the USA as they have been experiencing in Europe. I suppose that historically this is more or less a typical cycle. It seems that most if not all societies have suicidal tendencies.

The USA being isolated from Europe by a great ocean allowed us to develop at a different pace and go down a different path. Unfortunately shared cultures, two world wars, the cold war, the effect of new communication technologies along with pervasive lefty concepts and we find that all of Western Civilization is now basically on the brink of melt-down on both sides of the Atlantic.

As far as the arguments made by the smarmy little idiot. Everyone who has ancestors who made it to North America by whatever means should be counting their lucky stars. Does anyone actually believe that they would personally be better off if their families had stayed in Africa?

Too bad for the bands of Native Americans that were able to roam around North America killing each other and living off the land for a few thousand years after the last ice-age. That is the way it goes everywhere however. Nothing lasts forever. Their gene pool mostly made it however... even I am 1/8 Sioux Indian. I would rather be pecking at this keyboard than trying to survive another year in a primitive shelter with no modern conveniences.

As far as our system of government... Yes, our federal government especially has definitely gone off the rails, but the parliamentary form beat us to it. Most of Europe has a had a full-on nanny state for longer than we have. Parliamentary governments seem to be even more vulnerable than ours when it comes to giving socialists / communists a means to rise to the top. Although we all seem to be converging at this point... we mostly kept them in check longer.

Our problem is we have not taken a gent like this, Van Jones, Malik Shabul Shabbaz etc etc seriously and we should.

Where is our plethora of Ann Coulter types ( I mention her because she is only one will unfiltered cohones to speak her peace ) to debate this young man? We don't have them anymore, Andrew Died, Ramesh is now a felon and frankly they might have taken the wind out of his sails, Michelle Malkin I hear has a child with health issues and can't stay as active as she was, should I go on? .

He need to step in the arena of ideas and compare England today to us, granted we are slipping, but in many ways they are a joke, No 2nd Amendment, Taxed up the Ying Yang, Fuel > $6.50 a gallon, a hidden crime rate that no one will talk about because they can't defend themselves, and health care system that has them flocking ( or they did ) because their system tends to shorten their lives. Don't even go into their immigration issues, or their Verbal Duck Tape via Political Correctness...

With all that said, how did all that Monarchy / Parliamentary stuff work out for them?

Slavery was abolished in England itself about the time of the American Revolution, but continued in their colonies until the 1830s.

The British let Canada, Australia, and New Zealand become independent countries peacefully because they had learned their lesson trying to maintain their control over the Thirteen Colonies by force, and failing.

Something I do not understand about liberals is why everything must be done through the Federal Government.

Because they want the power of the Government to do what they cannot do.

Not to mention we wouldn’t have that pesky second ammendmant thing. Nor the first, for that matter.

How is that working out ? The Supremes, interpret what it means, and now homosexuality masquerading as marriage is the law of the land.

Of course, England, with its quasi-socialist form of government has proven itself by becoming the greatest superpower and force for peace ever.

Oh wait, that didn’t happen at all.

This isn’t even a good counterfactual read. It is just dreaming by a lefty flying to England. I suggest he stay there for good. We don’t want him back.

>>We are citizens who choose our representative government, and they are subjects.<<

The one thing that terrifies Europeans, English included, is freedom.

Agreed, same with the stories from Business Insider, everything is written by mid-20s know-it-all interns.

Yeah, we can call it the Nosepicker News.

The real question for his generation is what will they do when the rest of the world simply ignores them?

They aren't going to be the pre-eminent world power. A gang of limp wristed kiddies selling half assed crap won't be anyone's idea of a formidable power. I mean, do we expect to see a MacArthur, a Kennan, even a Henry Ford emerge from this gang of pampered children?

They're living on fading glory from generations past. The crap they think is important is simply ludicrous. They will end up being trampled.

[I wrote:]Something I do not understand about liberals is why everything must be done through the Federal Government.

[You wrote:]Because they want the power of the Government to do what they cannot do.

I meant "why through the Fed. gov. rather than state governments"? But why should the government do it, is a better question.

Sidestepping the question of whether this accusation is true, I have no idea why Congress should be measured by the quantity rather than the quality of bills passed.

It never ceases to amaze me. We've been a country for 239 years, and some people think we constantly need new laws.

Most necessary laws were created centuries ago.

Most of what's done now is not just unnecessary, but usually detrimental.
